Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
Being late to the Thanksgiving watching (or early to the Christmas watching) I think all of the Peanuts specials are on Apple +. My Bride bought us the Thanksgiving Peanuts special and so wanted to replicate their menu but alas, we went more traditional.

Re: Favorite Laurel & Hardy Films
Babes In Toyland isn't a favorite of mine. Otherwise, I can't disagree with either list. Towed In A Hole has long been a favorite. (Also for my wife.) Me and My Pal would probably be on my list. Big Business for the enthusiasm the boys take in the destruction of everything. I have the box set that h...

Re: SPORTS
As one who has spent nearly my entire life in the Baltimore area there is no figure, let alone sports figure, who is more beloved than Brooks. (And I would argue more than Cal.) He retained his southern bred sensibilities while embracing this town. it is a sad day in Baltimore and in the world of ba...

In case anyone missed it, Andre Watts died last week. He lost his battle with prostate cancer. He had quite an interesting story. Can't say I heard a lot from him and I never had any recordings but he sure came on the scene like gangbusters.

That was the main problem I had with Machado when he was here in Baltimore. Brilliant fielder but came up short on attitude at times. I guess he hasn’t learned.

Re: All Things Streaming
If you don’t mind free services (you will get commercials) and looking for older TV, TUBI and Pluto are hard to beat. Their commercials vary in length. Some are blessedly short. Live streaming channels all carry more or less the same stuff and isn’t all that interesting to me. Roku and Freevee are s...

Re: Classical Music
I have an old Bolero recording that has the original orchestral version (Bernsteinn /Orchestra National de France) on one side and a Moog Synthesizer version (Andrew Kazdin and Thomas Shepherd) on the other. A 1980 recording. Don't know that I ever listened to side 2. CBS must have thought that wou...

Re: Classical Music
I have been running through my old LP set of Szell and the Cleveland Orchestra's Complete Beethoven Symphonies. It was produced just after he died in 1970 but I think the recordings start in at least the early 60's. For a 50+ year old LP set they still sound fine. (Got a new turntable in the fall an...

Some even that were released as a single in one country but not another.

Re: Charlie Chaplin Features on Monday, April 16th
I saw a Chaplin short called "A Day's Pleasure" on HBO Max. One of the biggest laugh's for me was a title card - "Stupid ass." 1919 and the name calling was pretty modern. Still in use, lots, over 100 years later.

I saw Gordon Pinsett in an episode of "Cannon" the other night. Oddly coincidental in its timing, the episode followed the order of previous nights. I came to know Pinsett by his bragging, lying, but genial character in "Red Green."

I saw Stan Laurel do the leg thing in Way Out West before I saw Claudette do it. It was much funnier once I knew what Stan was referring to. Always enjoyed this one. I think it is a unique romance. Love the “argument” in the motel room and the scene where Gable comes to get his expense money. Great ...

Re: Like Button
This site mostly died because people found you could have something like it on Facebook. Since most everyone was already there they thought it a good idea. I wasn’t a fan because we couldn’t have discussions like we did in the early years. I thought it worth saving as it had some good discussions an...

Vaughan WIlliams Symphony No.5. Andre Previn and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Quite lyrical and in a similar feel of the Thomas Tallis Fantasia, with which it is paired on this recording.
