Re: Marilyn Monroe
That's almost certainly the case. Most of those are sold in Marilyn box sets of some arrangement or other. She boosts sales on anything she appeared in and I'm not surprised the DVD covers feature her prominently even when she has a smaller role.

Re: Movies for a sense of self
Very thought provoking. I think it will be much easier to come up with the list of 4 to watch for the first time because of how they made me feel than it will the life-defining. It'll be hard to keep it to a list of 4, for that matter! I will have to consider carefully.

I've heard this a few times over the years and pull this out once in a while as my go-to interesting fact. It's amazing to me.

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
North By Northwest is one of my favorites of all time. I watch it about once a year. Finally got it in HD this time around and just watched it a few months ago on Blu Ray.

Re: "What a Difference a Day Made - Doris Day Superstar"
I didn't watch the whole thing just now, but I was able to access the video by using a Canadian proxy. Couldn't from US or UK though.

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
I hear you. He has blown my mind with a few of his films. "Pulp Fiction." "Kill Bill." I believe he pays homage...and blows the genre to smithereens. Then puts it back together again nicely, skewed a bit, because he also loves classic films as we do. Agree about Pulp Fiction. I ...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
It's a bit off from the theme of this site (like my last movie, the Lego movie), but I watched the very violent but very satisfying Django Unchained over the weekend. Being a Quentin Tarantino film, it's got a lot of blood flying and some disturbing scenes, but the performances are excellent and the...

Re: Shirley Temple RIP
Have you ever noticed that if a star of the so called classic movies lives long enough, their passing slips under the radar. I bet there are plenty people out there of never even heard of Shirley Temple, despite her considerable achievements It's possible, but most younger people I've seen response...

Re: Shirley Temple RIP
A great talent, surely the like of which we will never see again in a child star. They just aren't groomed that way any more. My favorite is The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer, but I'm sure I'm one of the few.

Re: Gone With or Without fanfare
I find myself very saddened by Shirley Temple's death. More so than when I hear of other stars of yore passing. I'm assuming it's because of what Larry said above, that it's like hearing of a child dying, because of our collective vision of who "Shirley Temple" is. By most every account a ...

If I am not mistaken what you mention sounds more like Grant's and Bergman's 1958 comedy " Indiscreet " than " Notorious " Lomm. feaito, It is Indiscreet - because Bergman's character thought that Grant's character to be married - but in reality Grant's character was single and ...

Re: Odd thought of new movies.
I think CGI has its place and definitely love a lot of modern blockbusters. This weekend I saw an all CGI film, the Lego Movie, and loved it! :) But I do definitely agree, especially with big action movies, they overdo the CGI at the expense of plot and acting. Interestingly, I read that Philip Seym...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
i watched NOTORIOUS starring Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman last night to check out this scene that many of my friends thought it was one of the most sizzling romantic scenes in that movie. I was surprised by that and they were so right. Anyway, I enjoyed the film and it was a great vehicle for both...
