Re: The whiny thread

Well, I guess the fates were bored over the weekend and thought that they would amuse themselves by making sport of me. On Saturday afternoon, I was minding my own business, cold sober and fancy free. While strolling purposely across the living room, an area rug aggressively reached out and grabbed...

Re: The whiny thread

Quite the "Hollywood story," isn't it? She's even on imbD, as is her hubby. Did I mention that the first thing she did was get a job WHERE I WORK??? You have to see the humor in life or else, well, you go nuts. TCM and beer has helped lots! I could pay an actor to play my killer boyf...

Re: The whiny thread

And here I was going to whine about my ex-fiance who's living across the street from me with his first love from high school who ran away to Hollywood to become a star and then left her husband and child there to come back and shack up with him ACROSS THE STREET FROM ME while I care for my blind, il...

Re: "Now Playing"?

Why do they play all the best movies just as I'm leaving for work in the morning? Why, why, why?

"Now Playing"?

Is there a "now playing" thread anywhere (don't see one) to discuss current or at least recent showing on TCM? Like that super-weird Japanese film this morning, "Woman in the Dunes." Fabulous! :D

"...E!, have never had the Karadashian clan scream across my tv screen, not been the least interested in the Ice Truckers, the Gold Rush guys, the fisherman with Capt. Phil, the Great Race, Big Brother, the Apprentice..." I don't watch any of those, either; nor "Survivor," "...

Re: Ralph Richardson, film actor

Was Morris a fortune-hunter or wasn't he? I don't think that question was ever resolved! It's up to us to decide. The key to the whole thing is in the aunt's (?) evaluation: even if he is, he might take very good care of her AND her money. And Catherine's summation: why shouldn't she be happy for an...

Trash TV and Junk Food

Anyone here share my recent unhealthy fascination with perfectly awful family reality shows? Embarrassing to admit, but one day I lingered on "Jon and Kate Plus Eight" in an innocent effort to understand what people found so fascinating about that show. Before I knew it I, too, was fascina...

Re: Movies after 1970 on TCM

I'm not a fan of the modern movies. TCM, to me, is all about what you can't find anywhere else. Yes, sometimes that's a new movie such as The Roadbuilder (rarely), but I really do not need to see "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner?" three times a month or "Badlands" or any other bad 7...
