Re: I Just Watched...
Dipped into the 2000s today with a watch of 2003's Open Range, a Western with Robert Duvall, Kevin Costner (who also directed), Annette Bening, and Michael Gambon. This is definitely Duvall's film and it is a very fine modern take on a Western, although it is a big shock when the big showdown comes ...

I own a copy of TOOTSIE, but I couldn't resist watching a few favorite moments when I saw it was available on Watch TCM. I never tire of this one! I've never been one to comment on who *should* have won an Oscar (these awards are based on votes from Academy members so whoever received the most vote...

Jim Brown (The Dirty Dozen, Kenner, Tick Tick Boom, Ice Station Zebra, The Split, Mars Attacks) And I just thought too of Alex Karras (Paper Lion, Blazing Saddles, Victor/Victoria, Against All Odds)

Pick any number of scores by John Barry (The Tamarind Seed, Somewhere in Time, Frances, Out of Africa, Peggy Sue Got Married) Peggy Sue likely cause the biggest bucket of tears though, so I'll go with that one.
next: a movie that is beautifully photographed.

Re: SPOILERS!
I'll be back later with a new spoiler. It always warms my heart to find someone else who knows about this not very well-known gem. It is probably my favorite Natalie Wood movie although I understand that she was not doing well personally when she was making PENELOPE. I've known about it for quite a...

Re: I Just Watched...
Regarding Sylvia Miles, I honestly thought she was hysterically funny in her small part in 1989's She-Devil as Meryl Streep's vengeful mother who rats all of her daughter's dirty secrets to a People magazine reporter as payback for having been put in a nursing home.

Re: I Just Watched...
Yes. Never liked Hazel, even as a kid! Perry needed that extra power to move him along. Especially in the later seasons when he had put on quit a few pounds. His weight really fluctuated during the series. I recall that Raymond Burr had to go on a major crash diet to even be cast as Perry Mason. He...

Re: I Just Watched...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kFdUIm1ezI I remember this scene! Made me laugh. In a similar Edsel vein, I had to laugh at one of the later episodes of the (all-too-short-lived) early 1990s series Brooklyn Bridge, which was set in 1956 and 1957. One supporting character was a cynical middle-aged ...
