Re: I Just Watched...

Ladies and gentlemen, submitted for your bad movie approval -- ONE IS A LONELY NUMBER. Kindly ignore imdb comments along the lines of "this is groundbreaking in terms of feminist cinema". Well, you know what I say to that? Horse manure!! 1972, Trish Van Devere is left high and dry by Engl...

I'm curious as to why TV Guide considers this a brilliant, 4 star film. Its not horrible, but its not very memorable either.

Re: TCM Premieres....

TCM has added a premiere for May - Separate But Equal (1991) is scheduled for 8:00 PM ET on Friday May 17. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102879/ This was originally a TV mini-series, but TCM is presenting it complete with a 3 hour+ runtime. Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

Oh, Frenzy's rape/murder was much more sick than Marnie's scene was, even though the one in the earlier film was grotesque. With the exception of that scene, I kind of liked Marnie. Tippi does give a wonderful performance, the score is good, and its interesting so see a different type of film from ...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

I have to confess that I've never truly understood VERTIGO, much less why it's been on Top Ten lists as one of the greatest American movies. I have less of a problem with Scottie than I do with dumb needy masochistic Judy, putty in the hands of controlling men to be sure. Everyone in this story is ...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

I guess that's why I don't remember it! Well, admittedly the same could be said for most of the other films done by Paramount that year. Paramount bankrolled King David that year, and pretty much the only bona fide financial hit Paramount had that year was Witness with Harrison Ford and Kelly McGil...

I don't even remember that King David film.... It came and went very quickly in 1985. It was released around Easter rhat year, got brutal reviews, then disappared. Other than the diaper scene, a few other notes could be made about it. 1) Edward Woodward was fantastic as King Saul. 2) Carl Davis tur...

I say this because when she was recently interviewed by Stephen Colbert about her new published autobiography (when they taped it at her Malibu mansion and shown later on his program), she mentioned the part book in her book where she was comp...

Re: Theater

Late 1970's Los Angeles, I saw Ron Moody backstage in his underwear at a production of OLIVER. He wasn't very friendly. Bronxgirl, this is probably my favorite SSO post this week! I literally laughed out loud when I read it. "Reviewing The Situation" indeed . . . This reminds me of a pers...

Nice! Was that the old Tallulah Bankhead film? Whoops. My mistake. The film was called "My Past" not my sin, and it was with Bebe Daniels. I was pretty stunned by the distorted picture. LOL. Sounds like a similar type film. I have to confess that many of the pre-codes even though they wer...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

TCM slipped up again this morning. My Sin was broadcast with the frame out of whack, so that the top of the image was at the bottom below the rest of the image. Nice! Was that the old Tallulah Bankhead film? Whoops. My mistake. The film was called "My Past" not my sin, and it was with Beb...
