Re: Saturday Mornings on TCM

A few comments on the Saturday Morning Matinee schedule: - I am surprised that TCM hasn't been showing some of the classic Merry Melodies/Looney Tunes cartoons on Saturday mornings. As far back as I can remember, the Saturday cartoons have been limited to Popeye and selected MGM cartoons. TCM showe...

The Leo Frank trial and his lynching were also the subject of the musical PARADE, which was revived on Broadway last year with Ben Platt as Leo Frank. Thank you for this information! I had no idea. Here's a clip of Ben Platt and Micaela Diamond (who played Leo Frank's wife Lucille) performing "...

Lesley Manville is great, but I think I'll pass on Let Him Go and hope that World on Fire can resume for another season or three. Seek out her understated Britcom, Mum , if you haven't seen it. She plays a widow dealing with family and friends in the aftermath, and trying to keep a stiff upper lip.

Re: Celebrities In the News

We don't have a transcript, but from what has been posted on X (aka Twitter) he supposedly said that Barbra Streisand was a genius but that he didn't listen to her direction because women shouldn't be in positions of power. Which in itself is an odd statement because, while Barbara starred in and p...

I can relate. Used to climb inside the duvet cover when changing it. Then I learned the inside-out roll-up method. So much easier.

Fonda is a Sagittarius Sun. (Moon in Leo, Capricorn Rising) My favorite performance of Jane's is BAREFOOT IN THE PARK. Great supporting cast -- Robert Redford (at ease in comedy), Charles Boyer and Mildred Natwick. Shama-Shama! My brother watched this on a local TV station when he was about 10 (thi...

...Among their most famous works are the theme park songs There's A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow and It's A Small World (After All). According to Time magazine, the latter song is the most performed song of all time...... :smiley_cheers: :smiley_clap: So, I assume that last little factoid's numbers...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

The original TV show was only an hour, so the script had to be padded to feature length. I don't believe Clara's parents were in the original TV version at all. I've only seen it once, many years ago. My favorite incidental scene in the film is the conversation between the two ladies sitting at the ...

My aunt called my brother Jim-Jim back around the same time (late 60s) until he was about 8, when he announced he was to be called James henceforth. Didn't even occur ...

What always amazed me is back when she was doing her numerous variety series in the 1970s, she would be able to get all that hair under a short wig for various sketches. Where does it all go? One of the mysterious things about being a woman, I suppose, that I'll never understand. Re: MSW and the scr...

Re: OBITUARIES

Richard Sherman, one half of the Sherman Brothers songwriting team, has passed away at the age of 95. He and his brother are best remembered for writing songs for Disney films, television, and theme park attractions.

Re: I Just Watched...

I have watched now several episodes on: The Bugaloos (1970–1972). I believe that this programme is proof that Britain was continuing to receive very high-grade weed from its colonies in the Caribbean. Britain has had some weird kids shows, but this was an American production, from the Krofft brothe...
