Re: Noir Alley

Don't Bother to Knock (1952 - 20th Century Fox) is my favorite Monroe film; her screen persona is put to very good use by director Roy Baker. WIdmark is good, while Bancroft doesn't have much to do but looks great doing it. Also features iconic noir actor Elisha Cook Jr. I'm so glad TCM is airing D...

Re: Cars (and other vehicles) in movies and TV.

I believe there is a range of interests in cars and other vehicles. I'm a car guy. For myself, it has always been more about style and so forth than power. To me, the engine is what makes the car go and as long as sufficient to get up to cruising speed in reasonable time and to do about 75 MPH or l...

Re: What are you reading?

The Big Book of Female Detectives, edited by Otto Penzler. He has a lot of similar collections, but picked this one up a couple of months ago. It covers 150 years or so of short stories about female detectives. Goes all the way back to British stories in 1864. I skipped to the Pulp Era (1920's-30's)...

Re: Cars (and other vehicles) in movies and TV.

Could only find it as pay per view, so not inclined to watch it.
Actually not a fan of motorcycles due to the manner in which most owners use theirs.

Re: Cars (and other vehicles) in movies and TV.

Well Cid, considering your thread title here included the words "and other vehicles", as opposed to the long-running similar thread back at the TCM.com forum, AND considering as you probably know I've been into motorcycles since the age of 15, how about if I now post the movie trailer for...

The Falcon movies

This is a continuation of a discussion that began on another thread about something else. First, TCM continues its Saturday morning presentations of Falcon movies on Sat., Jan. 7 with The Falcon's Brother. This is the one where George Sanders real brother Tom Conway takes over the Falcon role. Secon...

Re: Movie trivia?

Raymond Chandler's classic mystery "Farewell My Lovely" was filmed as "Murder My Sweet" with Dick Powell and later with the original title with Robert Mitchum. However, before either of those movies were made, another version, a "B" movie version, was made. It was show...

Cars (and other vehicles) in movies and TV.

The automobiles that show up in movies and TV have always interested me. Trains too for that matter. Been watching episodes of US Marshal TV series from late 50's. The marshal drove a 1958 De Soto Fireflite station wagon - most expensive vehicle De Soto sold. Other officers drove other De Sotos most...

I agree. I scroll down to bottom where last quote shows, scroll few more lines and then start typing. Let's see how this one worked.

Re: Holiday Surprises

Surprise here was that in northwestern S.C. the temperature dropped to 9 degrees and high will be in 20's. Although that is not totally unusual, usually happens in Jan or Feb. Temps. around Christmas were 70 a couple of years ago.
But will be sunny and 56 on Thursday.

Re: POLL: Do you want a Like button? Poll has ended!

It isn’t immediately to me either who the other individual is who offended you (the male one). There are lots of people from both sides who contested the poll. It isn't really important who the other individual is. When TCM announced the sunsetting, I posted about how, although of course we love to...

Re: Noir Alley

This is new to me, but others may have known about it for quite some time. I went to TCM.com and noted the list on the left of home page showed Noir Alley so I went there. Has some interesting information re: what noir is, what Noir Alley is all about, lists upcoming features and so forth.
