Re: Just Plain Bad Movies

Wicked, Wicked (1973) was shown on TCM this morning. Watched it while taking a break from "deconstructing Christmas." It was shown in Duo-Vision and thankfully I have a 55" TV. Most of the movie shows two different, but related scenes at the same time on the screen. Somewhat confusing...

Re: What are you listening to?

THE KINGSTON TRIO The Last Month Of The Year ...I had this album when I was in high school. Actually my mother had purchased it from a local store. Love those white socks. At that time, boys in my high school wore socks the same color as our shirts. Yes pink socks with pink shirts. Of course, the T...

Re: What are you listening to?

My favorite Christmas albums are (not in order): Santa's Greatest Hits (20th Century Masters); Dean Martin's My Kind of Christmas; Merry Christmas, Johnny Mathis; Martina McBride, The Classic Christmas Album; Ray Conniff-The Complete Columbia Christmas Recordings (Christmas With Conniff, We Wish You...

Re: Noir Alley

I had seen Beware, My Lovely before and didn't care for it much. Watched it again this morning, but still don't care for it. I don't think the 1918 setting did much for or against the movie. Although I did wonder how a single widow supported herself since I doubt there was any war widow's pension of...

Re: Noir Alley

What is on Noir Alley on Dec. 16/17? I pulled up the TCM schedule for Saturday and Sunday and there is a 1.5 hour gap where Noir Alley usually sits.

Re: Noir Alley on TCM

I found I Wouldn't Want to be in Your Shoes fairly interesting. At least a 3.5. It held my attention all the way through and I thought the acting was fairly good considering the screenplay, rushed production and limited budget with which they had to work. I don't think Elyse Knox was supposed to be ...

Re: Alfred Hitchcock Presents

...(...his most memorable one for me being the one in which he's paralyzed in a car crash and everyone thinks he's dead, titled 'Breakdown'...first telecast in 1955) Indeed. That episode was one of the few I saw in reruns decades ago and it scared me (probably about 1970). That episode put me off t...

Re: Noir Alley on TCM

I watched Black Angel, although had seen it before. It is entertaining and does not drag like a lot of movies. As Eddie said in the intro, don't look for logic as Cornell Woolrich did not care about logic - just a good story. Incidentally, I discovered Hastings Mystery Theater on YouTube. About 250 ...

Re: Noir Alley

It was ok. I thought the happy ending was a cop out. I wish the film had been a little longer and fleshed out, but you can't complain it dragged! I wanted to slap Lynn's son silly though. I started FF'ing any scene with him in it. I also found Harry Morgan's character annoying. I kind of guessed wh...

Re: Explanation of New Shift in Streaming

For a very long time, Crutchfield have been experts in car stereo. https://www.crutchfield.com/car/carselector.aspx Received a Crutchfield catalog last week. Haven't purchased from them in many years, but they are a helpful resource. Unfortunately most of their stuff is fairly expensive - and somew...

Re: Explanation of New Shift in Streaming

But I believe there are still audio shops that can install a CD player. I bought an external disc drive for $24 that plugs into a new car's many USB ports. You just play your CDs through that. It helps to have a "cubby" shelf for your drive to securely sit in though. I looked on one elect...

Re: The Domestic CAT: Feline at its finest!

If you missed it, Eddie Muller said that cats were the perfect Noir animal in his intro to this weeks Noir Alley. As the "servant" of several cats, I agree with him. You can find his intros and outros (?) on YouTube. I find it interesting that a guy that had a career in the military would...

Re: Explanation of New Shift in Streaming

We still purchase CD's and DVD's although we also "subscribe" to "free" streaming services. Over the past few years have noticed that the free streaming services have increased the number of commercial breaks and the length of the commercials. If want to record a movie or progra...
