Re: Why were so many game show hosts such lowlifes?

I'm surprised Masha didn't mention Bob Barker and his sexual harassment of the models.

Re: Best And Worst Mothers In Film

The first that comes to mind for best is Beulah Bondi in Of Human Hearts.

For worst, there's Mary Tyler Moore in Ordinary People and Ingrid Bergman in Autumn Sonata.

As somebody who lives 20 minutes from Tinker Street and is not a boomer I've never been able to get into the whole Woodstock thing.

Re: On 'Jeopardy!' tonight

That said though, it is not entirely surprising that none of the contestants knew it. I am an avid viewer of game shows in general and watch Jeopardy on a nearly daily basis, and over the years, even some of the smartest contestants are a bit shaky on the subject of movies, both past and present. To be fair, Thelma Ritter should have won for Pickup on South Street.

Re: I Just Watched...

I have read that some people believe that it is over-the-top. It is Audrey Hepburn wearing Givenchy clothes and Cartier jewels. It is Peter O'Toole in a comedy role. It is set in the Paris art world of the 1960s. It is Hugh Griffith and Moustache in supporting roles. What sane and sensible person w...

(That said, they did a goid job casting someone in the small role of Elsa Lancaster, who has a very similar sounding voice to the real woman)

The Duellists (1977). Harvey Keitel, of all people, plays a soldier in Napoleonic France who has on obsession with duels, and keeps challenging fellow soldier Keith Carradine to a duel every time they meet over the course of 15 years. This was director Ridley Scott's feature film debut, and he want...

Re: I Just Watched...

Darkest Hour , though not bad overall, with some good period settings and an adequate but hardly Oscar-worthy performance by Gary Oldman as Churchill, has its own darkest hour in a made-up scene where Churchill descends to a ride in the London Underground where he is appropriately schooled by black...

Sorry Fedya, I still don't understand what that sentence means. Must have a "simple" mind, I guess. "Honk, honk" I miswrote. I meant to say "Swedish accent", not "Swedish actress". Why they made Olivia de Havilland (and Col. Potter) put on those ridiculous ac...

Crawford –- Mitchum called him 'the Crawdad' -– took all the needling he could stand one day and attacked Sinatra, holding him down, tearing off his hairpiece and . . . eating it. Someone screamed, 'My God, Crawford’s eaten Sinatra’s wig!'
