Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
I love Tony Randall (nice Jewish boy from Tulsa, Oklahoma) as Dr. Lao, mainly because the character is supposed to be a "put-on" for the Western folks so they can learn his wise (but occasionally preachy) ways. I love the Leigh Harline score as well. (he actually first used it in MAN OF T...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
I remember reading The Circus of Dr. Lao when I was a teenager. It's a fairly
racy book (and a very short one), much more so than the movie. In parts
it even gets a little Sinclair Lewisy. I haven't seen the movie in years. It's
okay, especially some of the special effects, but nothing special.

Re: Noir Alley
FMQ was fairly entertaining. It's not original or top drawer, but it gets the job done in one hour, though it is a bit of a bare bones flick. I don't mind if the cop isn't obsessed. Sometimes I like to see a regular cop, just like Otis Campbell liked to see a bat once in a while. I do think that Lun...

Re: I Just Watched...
I've seen The Intruder two or three times over the years, though not recently. I think it nails the atmosphere of a poor small southern town in the early 60s pretty well. It's a rather disheartening place, right down to Shatner's shabby hotel room. And Kirk is believable as the manipulative conman a...

Re: !
In years, its less than that as the show is on several times a year with overlapping between years, but she's probably been on close to 20 years now. That Heartland show seems to focus on small hick towns where everyone knows each other and never lock their doors. Then after the murder no one trust...

Re: The Greatest Suicides on Film
Yeah, the hand holding the revolver isn't actually the most lifelike or realistic looking thing you'll ever see in a movie, is it. https://youtu.be/tRiuo_KlvCk (...btw, ever notice the splash of red color added to the firing of the gun in this otherwise monochromatic film?...I never had before, any...

OH yeah there are and always have been. Now, MY personal little "favorites" of these kind'a folks have always been those who after some natural catastrophe has befallen the state of California, they'll opine the idea that that's the result of "God's retribution upon those godless peo...

Re: The Greatest Suicides on Film
I don't know if they are great, but "Gomer" Pyle blowing himself away in Full Metal Jacket was fairly gruesome. Fortunately he had the where- withal to kill that loud mouth scumbag drill instructor first. Leo. G. Carroll slowly pointing the gun on himself and pulling the trigger in Spellbo...
