It could be remade, follow the novel, have one of the greatest female protagonists in Noir, and you'd have a completely different Film Noir.

Here is a Cornell Woolrich based film that unfortunately completely changes the entire setup of the novel. The 1943 novel takes place in New York City, The 1946 film adaptation unfortunately moves everything to Los Angeles. That wipes out the entire searching The Bowery flophouses for "Heartbre...

That is what happens when you run out of the better Noir you have access to, you either scrape the bottom of the barrel or you acquire the rights to show more.

Wasn't too impressed with Julie either. The opening car sequence was OK in the long shots and ridiculous in the rear projection ones. The car, the way Doris is driving makes it look like there's a lot of play in the steering. She's turning the wheel back and forth back and forth on a straight road, ...
