https://i.imgur.com/pxGqXPh.jpg Bill Walton (1952-1973) RIP Yea, Walton will be missed. I met Walton once. It was my first concert; A Grateful Dead one at UCLA's Pauley Pavillion back in the early 70s. My other bro and his friends took me. We had good seats, but I complained to my bro that this big...

Re: Fav. kid cartoons...

Eddie Muller, replete with fedora and yellow trench coat, is seen running around T C M of late, and it reminded me of the following cartoon from my childhood: https://th.bing.com/th?id=OIP.PfBzymGlCTl5J5mdAPp_4wAAAA&w=298&h=242&c=10&rs=1&qlt=99&bgcl=fffffe&r=0&o=6&...

Re: I Just Watched...

I have watched now several episodes on: The Bugaloos (1970–1972). I believe that this programme is proof that Britain was continuing to receive very high-grade weed from its colonies in the Caribbean. Masha, even if you had the wrong side of the Atlantic, who cares, I admire the colonial slant you ...

Re: BREE DANIELS: SCORPIO RISING?

NoShear, thanks for starting this thread. There is something about KLUTE and some observations about the name of Jane Fonda's character in that movie that I've wanted to post about for awhile, but I didn't want to post it in one of the general topic threads because I knew that it would ultimately g...

BREE DANIELS: SCORPIO RISING?

Of Capricorn mothers and kingrat's "THE CONVERSATION" eavesdrop, Bronxgirl48... I recently read an analysis of Jane Fonda's character in 'klute' which referenced Linda Goodman's SUN SIGNS . Instead of assigning Scorpio to the Bree Daniels character as we once agreed, Bronxgirl48, Fonda's b...

Re: I Just Watched...

Speaking of the 1970s: consider the difference between Blow-Up (1966) and The Conversation (1974), which borrows liberally from the plot of Blow-Up , only with sound instead of photography. When Antonioni seems like the fun guy in the room, you know something is seriously out of whack. Swinging Lon...

Re: Vietnam War essentially ignored - Again!

Yes, this is a pet peeve of mine, but TCM ignores the Vietnam war on Memorial Day (3-4 days) and other relevant holidays. Never understood why as there are well over 100 movies about the war in Vietnam. Platoon is on Friday, May 24, but that is the only Vietnam War movie on as far as I can tell. Ac...

Re: SOUTH BROADWAY AFTER DARK

The Rialto is now an Urban Outfitters, but the building is still there. The theater itself wasn't that large compared to other L.A. downtown theaters, but it was said to have the longest marquee on Broadway. I thought about wording it differently as, yes, Hibi, the building itself is still there.

Krakatoa is actually WEST of Java, but that's Hollywood! So then, what you're tellin' me here Hibi is that BESIDES that old axiom that says "Never get your History from Hollywood movies", we should ALSO add the subject of Geography to that here TOO then, huh?! (...thanks, I'll keep this i...

Re: KRAKATOA WEST OF VINE

Anyone here ever catch this movie's sequel..."Krakatoa: And It Hurts Like Hell" ? It's the story of Murray Schwartz M.D., Beverly Hills' Podiatrist to the Stars. (...didn't think so...it was a box office bomb, ya know) I missed that one, Dargo, but it reminded me of the one about a gun-to...
