Coming up on June 4 is The Velvet Touch, which is somewhat like All About Eve as a film noir. Rosalind Russell plays the famous actress. Theater life isn't always pleasant, and a murder ensues.

Joe, I have also heard rave reviews for the French noir Une si jolie petite plage (Such a Pretty Little Beach).

There's a fine scene fairly early in the film where Cochran and Roman, on the run, try to hide in a long trailer hauling several new cars. You may want to rewind this and watch again.

Lesley Manville is great, but I think I'll pass on Let Him Go and hope that World on Fire can resume for another season or three.

Eye of the Needle and My Beautiful Laundrette are great additions to the schedule.

I believe that Barbara Baxley was on tour with Tallulah Bankhead in Private Lives. Bankhead did several tours of the play.

I always loved Barbara Baxley's speaking voice, which got her many a voiceover spot.

I've always thought that by the name Berry-Berry we are meant to remember that there is a disease called "beriberi."

Speaking of Perry Mason, we just saw The Case of the Provocative Protege, with noir gal Virginia Field in a prominent role.

I enjoyed seeing Ray Collins and Marjorie Rambeau, but BAD FOR EACH OTHER is in many ways just a remake of THE CITADEL, with the scene moved to Pennsylvania. The set design was very good, however. I don't have any great desire to see this again.

Go Tell the Spartans is very good, though not well-known.
