Jeffrey, I do still have the laserdisc set of A Hard Act to Follow; much as I still need money I haven't broken down and sold the lasers yet, I hate the thought of having to mail them out (not as easy as mailing CD's and DVD's). While of course the laserdisc would be optimal I do have a VHS copy of ...

Luckily La Roue and J'Accuse are set for a DVD release this summer, at least here in the US. And I have my trusty old laserdisc set of Napoleon.

Lobster Films has been doing some excellent releases.

Kyle, :) Two of my favorite later Griffith's are SALLY OF THE SAWDUST (1925) , and BATTLE OF THE SEXES (1928) with it's All Star cast of characters. I liked Sally of the Sawdust well enough, though I thought it was maybe twenty minutes longer than it needed to be, but I couldn't get into Battle of ...

I found the glimpses of Griffith's later 'minor' films fascinating, e.g.: One Exciting Night, Isn't Life Wonderful and The Sorrows of Satan. Isn't Life Wonderful is pretty good - Lillian Gish considered it the only film Griffith made after she left him that was worthy of the man - but One Exciting ...

If the 1989 MGM VHS version is the Photoplay Productions version, then yes I have it - I have never manged to pick up this particular version on laserdisc though I've lost it on eBay many times. I also have the Photoplay VHS of Show People. I don't know anything about Photoplay DVD releases of BoaN ...

Hi Jeffrey! The audio on the first tape of the Thames 'Intolerance' was an issue for me - I've had two different VHS sets and the audio on the first tape was distorted on both sets. Was the issue on the visuals for part two inherent in the film elements or was an issue with the videotape? It will be...

'Tumbleweeds' wasn't a very fitting swansong for Hart, though the landrush scene is pretty impressive.

Actually it's not Ernest Torrance in City Girl, it's David Torrance. Great movie though, Mary Duncan is as incandescent here as in The River.
