MissGoddess, I'm surprised that you didn't include The Ten Commandments in Cedric Hardwicke's notable movies. That role, along with his dual role in A Connecticutt Yankee in King Arthur's Court , is one of my favorites. And, of course, Leo G. Carroll's portrayal of Jacob Marley in A Christmas Carol ...

I'm guessing Harry Davenport. He, along with Eddie Foy, founded the Actors' Equity Guild.

Hi, Judith. Yes, it was Gene Lockhart. He played Stephen Douglas losing to Abe Lincoln in Abe Lincoln in Illinois , an abused Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol , the corrupt sheriff in His Girl Friday , the judge who had to rule if Santa Claus was real in Miracle on 34th Street , father-in-law to Ge...

Sorry, ken, not Mr. C.

Clue: My child found more fame in TV than the movies.

It's been a few days since any activity has appeared on this thread, so I thought I'd offer a simple one for all you geniuses. I was born in Canada and my early talents led me to stage work. I've not only appeared on Broadway, but plied my talents as a writer. I even played the starring role in one ...

How about the act of throwing the finally empty - after 20 or 30 shots - six-shooter at the other feller. Never seen one hit it's mark yet.

Of course, Blazing Saddles addressed the issue of cattle drives always having beans for the evening meal.

I've finished Changeling by Roger Zelazney and have moved on to the sequel, Madwand . Sadly, and somewhat coincidentally, Robert Jordan, who was authoring The Wheel of Time series has passed away. According to his fans who frequently visited his blog, the 12th and final book in the series is mostly ...

For someone who is such a lovable and enjoyable character in the majority of his films, I found my favorite bad guy to be Walter Brennan as Judge Roy Bean in The Westerner and as Pa Clanton in My Darling Clementine. They were so out of character, and yet, he made them totally believable.

My first thought was Curly Howard, but he didn't have enough film appearances. Then I thought I'd check out Larry Fine. He seems to fit the bill. Is it Larry, Judith?

Sounds like Kathleen Freeman. I know she sent Jake and Elwood Blues on their "mission from God." And of course, her face was one of those that you would see in about everything that you saw from the mid-fifties until the early seventies.

I haven't watched Mad Men on principle. I believed it was the introduction of AMC's series Remember WENN that was the beginning of the downfall of the network. It may not have caused it, but it seemed to be the first step away from the classic movie programming. That being said, I do stil watch movi...
