Miss G, Glad you are enjoying the discussion. It's one of those great things about films, everyone sees things differently! As for Hallie, it's possible that Pompey sent her back to Pete's and went to Doniphon himself telling Tom that Miss Hallie had sent him. My only problem with that is that Donip...

Miss G, It is possible that Hallie asked Tom to save Ranse's life and Tom rebuffed her request. She went back to Pete's and Pompey and Tom went down the alley to save Ranse, Hallie not knowing. It's hiis reaction to seeing the two of them together after the killing that gets me.. His angry reaction,...

Anne, I appreciate the early Welles films. As much as I love film, I still cannot fathom how so many people can call Citizen Kane the best film ever made. It's a very good film, innovative in some respects and I give Welles credit in making a film that, despite his best arguments, is a film about Wi...

I caught a few moments of Mambo Kings the other night. Last time I saw that film it was in a theater on its original release.

That said, Armand Assante perhaps for Nine?

<<Which brings up a question of my own! Did Hallie know who shot Liberty Valance soon after it happened----because no indication is made that Ranse was going to/or did tell her.>> MissG, I think Hallie was too busy be glad that Ranse was still alive to have given it much thought. Before the shootin...

Surely Hallie had seen Liberty before---he was a well-known figure, and he surely came to Pete's Place before. So why the look? What was it's significance? Was she just plain scared of him in general---or for a specific reason? Had he tried something before? He doesn't say or do anything else about ...

Au Contraire,

I would be very interested but Jon will have to speak for himself.

Lesson: never underestimate the lure of Clara Bow.

I forgot to "cue chorus" when I mentioned Randolph Scott (cue chorus!) >>

Chris,

The folks of Rock Ridge will be around to talk with you about that. They'll make sure it won't happen again!

Chris,

He's also very likable in The Professionals and has one of the best end lines in movies, imo.
