Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
Regarding Brute Force: I love that movie and Cronyn really surprised me. He played his character with great gusto and I was surprised at how sadistic and A-hole-ish he could be. I basically know Cronyn from the 1980s as a kid so I never thought of him as being that evil and pretty much a b******. An...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
I saw Valkryie myself and was bored to tears. Maybe I wasn't in the mood for it. "shrug" Cruise didn't fit his part very well I thought so if there was really one made in the '50s on this subject matter i'd love to know what it's called and hope it's subtitled. Anywho I promised westerns f...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
I enjoyed it too. Its got some memorable supporting characters ... like Action Jackson's Boss for example that made it somewhat worthwhile to watch. One, thing that this movie definately wasted the talent of Sharon Stone and I expected more from her. It's been eons ago of the last time I watched it...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
Been a little busy but I made room to watch a double bill of cheesy action flicks from the '80s Red Heat (1988) This is not one of Arnie's best movies but it did allow him to stretch a little in a way as his Russian cop character was evocative of Greta Garbo's role in the classic film Ninotchka. Jim...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
Watched, well more like TRIED to watch Japan Sinks which is an early '70s Japanese disaster movie. The disaster is that it's almost ALL TALKING and the subtitles weren't the best.....Oh well maybe the remake is better (i'll watch that at some point)

Re: What are you reading?
I'm reading in an off and on fashion (currently off) Heinrich Himmler by Peter Longerich. It's a pretty detailed and compelling biography of the SS leader and is actually an english translation of the book which was originally published in Germany. The reading is actually very brisk, easy and unders...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
Well...I saw THE AVENGERS. Grabbed it from Red Box. If you like this high tech extravaganza, please don't be offended. But what a waste of time! I'm so tired of "all action, no story." I'll concede it would have been more impressive on a big screen. This is not DVD material. But a good mo...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
Thanks, I never really stopped watching classic movies just life has gotten in the way. Anywho I didn't watch a classic film last night but did watch an NBC 2 part miniseries from 1984 called Fatal Vision starring the recently deceased Karl Malden. It's essentially about this army doctor who kills h...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
For those who were in '07 I used to be a fairly regular poster/lurker here so now I make my comeback LOL Ahem, latest classic era film i've seen is this: Black Gold (1947) Well this movie is a whole lotta hokum...That's not necessarily bad per se just something you got to keep in mind. This movie is...

Actually Walter Payton had a better offensive line working for him then Barry Sanders for the majority of his career. The last few years of Sanders' career there was a good O-line but they wre mostly a pass protection line rather then a good run blocking line so even then he wasn't working with a fu...

I've seen Patterns and it's a powerhouse of a film. Van Heflin is AMAZING in it. The only movie tonight I haven't seen (at least I don't remember seeing it if I had) is Count Three and Pray . Either way I expect to watch at least one of the movies tonight. The guy was just such an underrated actor. ...

I've watched three movies so far this weekend. The new Get Smart and the first two Crime Doctor . I rather enjoyed the Get Smart movie and will have a full review of it up by Tuesday. The Crime Doctor movies were a bit of a snooze to me but man Warner Baxter was in really rough shape when he did tho...
