Re: I Just Watched...

I personally thought that Ada was a strong, interesting film, and a good vehicle for Susan Hayward, but maybe that it just me. I never saw The Marriage -Go-Round. Back Street is a good melodrama, Stolen Hours isn't as good as Bette's version, but it is still moving and Susan is very good in it, I T...

Re: I Just Watched...

I've never seen Stolen Hours (the Dark Victory remake) either. I Thank a Fool is the one with Peter Finch, Diane Cilento, and Cyril Cusack, a waste of four fine actors. The most interesting thing about Ada is how certain parts of it are like a foreshadowing of Lurleen Wallace following her husband ...

Re: Banned for Trolling

Hasn't happened to me..., but I have not logged out since I joined... I don't know how to start a new thread. I don't know that I have a good guess what my password might be. I had a bad experience around St Patrick's Day in 2022 with TopBilled. He jumped on me for correcting a thread title to the ...

Re: All In The Family- Started Off Great But Later Went Downhill

It seems incredible now but at one point Peyton Place was on 3 times a week! And it never showed reruns in the summer. New episodes all year round.

I watched Peyton Place until the last season when school activities put a crimp in my tv watching. I missed it.

Re: BREE DANIELS: SCORPIO RISING?

Lordy, is Klute responsible for all the girls being named Bree? I grew up in a completely Bree-less world. Jane Fonda's shag haircut also set a trend. I, too, grew up in a Bree-less world! I'd never heard of the name until the film came out. It's quite possible it wasn't her real name anyway (the f...

Re: All In The Family- Started Off Great But Later Went Downhill

One could say this for just about any tv series. Most stay on the air long past their shelf life. MTM and Seinfeld are 2 rare examples of shows that ended while they were still at the top of their game. Frasier is an example of the other extreme. Ran out of steam many seasons before they pulled the ...

Re: I Just Watched...

As I was looking through lists of 1961 films for our Favorites List on another thread, I noticed Ada and Back Street , not exactly stellar contributions to Susan Hayward's filmography, to be followed by I Thank a Fool the next year (I pity the fool who came up with that title), and Where Love Has G...

Re: BREE DANIELS: SCORPIO RISING?

Good detective work! I never noticed the confusion over Daniel/Daniels in the film and I've seen it many times. I always thought it was Daniels. I guess they couldn't make up their mind(s).

Re: TCM Premieres....

Coming up on June 4 is The Velvet Touch , which is somewhat like All About Eve as a film noir. Rosalind Russell plays the famous actress. Theater life isn't always pleasant, and a murder ensues. Is The Velvet Touch a TCM premiere? It is an RKO film and thus was part of the former Turner library of ...

This coming weekend has the first Noir Alley double feature which is also the TCM premiere of 2 Argentine films: Never Open That Door (1952) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0184782/ and If I Should Die Before I Wake (1952) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0184901/ Is this a first? Re: AFI's 25 GREATEST MOVIE MUSICALS OF ALL TIME

The character is supposed to be over the top so imo Kay was perfect casting. I love her in the film. It took a lot of negotiating to get Funny Face on the screen. Donen and the production team were based at MGM. Audrey was under contract at the time to Paramount who refused to loan her out. So Param...
