Re: I Just Watched...

I also have THIS COMPULSION where, even though I own them all on DVD- whenever any of the UNIVERSAL MONSTER FILMS become available on any format I have access to- I WILL WATCH. I dunno WHY but DRACULA (31), FRANKENSTEIN (31), THE WOLF MAN, THE INVISIBLE MAN and THE MUMMY (1933) are all on youtube (...

Re: !

LOL. Especially in the bay area. I don't remember if Aggie even admitted to killing the guy. She just kept yelling you have no proof etc. That had to be a huge window wide open for her to tumble out of too! PAULA NEWS! Her show wasn't on last night! They are running In Pursuit again. Might be the b...

Re: !

Yeah, a plastic surgery bargain. Even factoring in inflation! Aggie probably waited till he turned around and bopped him on the head with his trumpet (or whatever it was) to stun him then shot him when he was down. Sounds like her style. No, no explanation was given how Agnes accomplished that. Esp...

Re: !

Yea, the supporting actors make the film. Note this was the best role for Clifton Young as the blackmailer. Warner signed him but he didn't get much work (he does have an uncredited role as a bum at the start of Treasures of the Sierra Madre). What a smarmy character! Also note worried actor is the...

Re: I Just Watched...

Ladies and gentlemen, submitted for your bad movie approval -- ONE IS A LONELY NUMBER. Kindly ignore imdb comments along the lines of "this is groundbreaking in terms of feminist cinema". Well, you know what I say to that? Horse manure!! 1972, Trish Van Devere is left high and dry by Engl...

Re: Noir Alley

I, too, think it was an accident. She still had options left. She was just too full of herself to commit suicide in my opinion. The only problem with the name Linnell is you've got to figure out how many n's and l's are going to be in it and stick to that number. Too hard to spell. Should've stuck ...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

That particular scene in FRENZY gave me nightmares. When Judy opens her hotel door in VERTIGO she has no reaction. Did she already spot him out of the corner of her eye while chatting with those co-workers? I must admit I do like MARNIE even though I cannot stand Sean Connery's performance. So obno...

Re: June 2024 Schedule Posted

So each Fox star gets a couple of movies shown, is that how they are doing it? I guess that way, they can say they covered Fox stars as SOTM w/out spending too much money doing it.... That's what it looks like, based on the June 4 schedule. Unfortunately it might be a few more weeks before they rel...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

Well, admittedly the same could be said for most of the other films done by Paramount that year. Paramount bankrolled King David that year, and pretty much the only bona fide financial hit Paramount had that year was Witness with Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis. Clue later became a cult favorite, ...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

It came and went very quickly in 1985. It was released around Easter rhat year, got brutal reviews, then disappared. Other than the diaper scene, a few other notes could be made about it. 1) Edward Woodward was fantastic as King Saul. 2) Carl Davis turned in a wonderful musical score. 3) The film w...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

Originally she thought of casting Richard Gere in the part. That would have been odd. (The scene in 1985's King David where Gere prances around the streets of Jerusalem wearing only a pair of underwear that looks like a diaper is one of those memorably bad scenes one can never forget.) I don't even...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

Mandy Patinkin is hot as Avigdor in YENTL. BUT, evidently NOT hot enough for Babs' tastes, anyway. I say this because when she was recently interviewed by Stephen Colbert about her new published autobiography (when they taped it at her Malibu mansion and shown later on his program), she mentioned t...
