Re: The Q & A with Alexandra Dean on BOMBSHELL: THE HEDY LAMARR STORY

Hidden Figures is a wonderfully inspiring 2016 film with Taraji P. Henson, Jim Parsons, Mahershala Ali, Kevin Costner, and Octavia Spencer about the women involved in the NASA race for space which hits close to home for me. I teach at a local college where the children and grandchildren of some of ...

Essential Passes have been sold out since Thursday of last week, but I hope to see you all at the TCMFF 2018. Just had a 'Brief Encounter' with SSO Guest Author of The Essentials, Jeremy Arnold. Looks like he's working on another book for TCM. He has just hosted 11 intros on the FilmStruck streaming...

Re: The Q & A on Las Vegas 1956-1973 with Lynn Zook

Excellent question and valid points, Moira.

Lynn's ground-breaking blend of words, images, and videos chronicling these eras of Las Vegas history "will become more common," I hope. I'd also like to know some of Lynn's favorite interview subjects!

Re: The Q & A on Las Vegas 1956-1973 with Lynn Zook

Thanks for sharing those videos with your response! In your book you discuss many aspects of the architecture of Las Vegas, and I was wondering how you feel about it's contribution to the Mid-Century modern aspect of American architecture. Also, how have the innovations devised for Las Vegas hotels ...

Thanks for all these film picks, Moira and Lynn. I think I'm partial to Viva Las Vegas and Ocean's 11. I also enjoy The Las Vegas Story. I love hearing about how your experiences reflect the changing times in Las Vegas. https://youtu.be/UyzhnEqtWAc I remember during the film of Diamonds Are Forever ...

Re: The Q & A on Las Vegas 1956-1973 with Lynn Zook

Thanks for sharing these wonderful videos! I enjoyed hearing your parents and other Elvis fans share their memories of his Vegas performances. It was also great to watch firsthand accounts of the bombing of Frank Rosenthal's Cadillac. Are all these videos in your new book? I've always wondered about...

Re: The Q & A on Las Vegas 1956-1973 with Lynn Zook

Thanks for these great responses! I love reading all about your own personal experiences in the shadow of neon and the excitement of Las Vegas in its heyday. I made my first trip to the MGM in 1980, and remember the MGM Theatre still being open, but unfortunately didn't make it to that fabulous gift...
