You should love the Burns and Allen shows. They were very good.

Two other shows I'll add from my younger days are "The Odd Couple" and "The Rockford Files."

Anne:

Mustaches were quite the fashion during that time. I think more men had them than not.

Ken:

The last place I saw this film to play was on the Encore Westerns channel but that probably goes back to late last year.

There's no argument on any of them but one that hasn't been mentioned is "She Wore A Yellow Ribbon." Wayne's "grandfatherly" performance is unlike anything else he did. Some people think there may be too much humor in it ("Picnicing. Mr. Pinnell?) but I think it's a good study of a man giving the wi...

[quote="Mr. Arkadin"]I felt that Tetley's son was nessacary if only to show what kind of a monster his father was, and how his nature created a son that was in fact, spineless like himself. Unlike his father, he is not attempting to hide his nature. You do bring up a good point about the Major being...

Determined people and criminals are not going to care about gun laws. It's a horrible tragedy. I have an acquaintance from my church that has a daughter at V Tech. (No word yet on her) but gun control laws won't fix this.

I think an "Information" forum like the TCM forum for asking questions would be helpful.

[quote="jondaris"]I don't disagree with anything you said. But as Chris pointed out in the Olberman/O'reilly thread (proving again that he is at least as wise and diplomatic as he is wrong :))

Thanks(?) :)

I'd hesitate to call wither of them newsmen and suggest they are more like commentators. I'm not sure either of them are objective enough to qualify as reporters. I can't comment on Olbermann as I don't watch him but I think he's quite good as a sports commentator. He knows his history. He can be wi...

Major Tetley may have been a little heavy handed but I think he had to be a central character of the film. If my memory serves me well enough he was trying to be "legal enough" while being able to run the whole show. The son, I thought, was almost dispensble. Granted he was the opposite of his fathe...

Currently I only watch "House" and "Law and Order" (mostly the original). Classic Series: Dick Van Dyke Bob Newhart (both) Mary Tyler Moore Jack Benny (Good luck ever being able to see any again.) For the record, I hated "Friends" and never "got" "Seinfeld." I understand I'm in the minority but Geor...

It's odd as "The Quiet Man" is one of my favorite movies but I don't think of Romantic Comedy when I talk about it. I think Wayne and O'Hara certainly make one of the great couples and would agree with your vote.

There are many but one of my favorites is "The More The Merrier."
