One of my favorite films of her is "Weekend In Havana" with John Payne. It featured nice dance sequences and musical numbers along with the funny Leonid Kinskey, Carmen Miranda, and Cesar Romero to make it more enjoyable. I posted this picture on the TCM board but no one seemed thrilled ab...

"The Man Who Laughs" and "Contraband" are the only two films that come to mind if you want to see him as a good guy. If you're interested in seeing the first one, it's available on youtube. Let me know your thoughts if you check it out. "The Man Who Laughs" (11 parts) h...

I thought you'd like it. :D What's your favorite part of the film? I like the part in which he enters the restaurant and goes to a table where the women flirt with him. It was shocking to see one just go up to him and plant a kiss on the mouth.  He was so debonair in this film and Vivia...

What do you all make of Walter Houston's character the "sin killer"? This man was a joke! You could tell by the way he looked at Pearl that he was lusting for her. The devotion Mrs. McCanles had for this man is funny. In the room while he's "cleansing" Pearl of sin, she kneels do...

Thank you all for clearing this up! I've learned so much through the article and bits of information provided as to why this film was a disaster. Selznick had guts in trying out this scandalous story on the big screen. I was initially shocked by the behavior of the main characters and the language u...

Thanks to all for the support but I still have a long road ahead before creating something presentable. Danny, the Lon Chaney portrait is of his permanent face. Maybe later on I'll try one in character. MissG, I'm looking forward to seeing your work here. Horses are majestic creatures and I lo...

Thanks for the kind words that I don't deserve, Danny. All my attempts turn into disasters. I could never come near to your realistic portraits but if you want to see what I've done so far, here they are. I really need practice. This one is the first portrait I did but it doesn't look much li...

Duel In The Sun

Could someone tell me why this film is so hated? I remember reading a lot of bad things on the TCM forum and last week I saw it for the first time. The film was pretty good and the actors did well in my opinion.

It's nice to see another Conrad Veidt enthusiast here. I shouldn't post this but if you want to see my horrible sketch, here it is. lol Please bare in mind I was only fooling around with the charcoal pencil and the shading is really bad as well as the proportions. Soon I'll try to draw him with a re...

Great caricature, Danny. You are a self taught professional. Thanks for the advice! MissG, you can try taking a picture of your drawings and post them here. The other day I went crazy with a charcoal pencil and did two quick sketches of Conrad Veidt. It's fun to use but if you mess up, there's no tu...

Danny, I come in here to ask for tips on portraits and once again I'm left in awe of your work. Amazing as always! Thanks for sharing those two great stars with us. Glad you discovered the one and only man of a thousand faces. I've been drawing as of late and still haven't grasped the idea of seeing...
