Hi, Well, all I can say is that I'm very happy and glad that we all made it onto this site. I would hate it to have to lose such great and informed friends. We may be part of the middle aged and seniors but we are still vibrant and knowledgeable and exhibit good manners. And, that's why we're all w...

us? OLDER? Nahhhhh

I recently visited my favorite thread, "Ask Mongo", and it has been hijacked by some jerk who lectures rather than informs. Too sad. Larry, I was in a record store (boy, that dates me!) and overheard two young ladies talking about Paul McCartney. One said, "Did you know Paul McCartney was in a band ...

For what it's worth: I live in an area rich in history of the Civil War. Lone Jack, Westport, Lawrence, Ks, Lexington, MO with its incredible Anderson House, which was used as a hospital and changed sides 3 times in 3 days. We also have quite a lot of Indian artifacts and historic sites. My cousin g...

Jon, I changed my profile to "subsilver" quite a while ago. Is this what everyone is seeing now? I went to edit my profile to see if there was another option, but only subsilver comes up. I don't see the infamous Stepford couple, either. (They weren't on the subsilver choice)

The novel is by Alan Le May. It's likely out of print but you might be able to find a copy through abebooks.com Thanks Lynn, both for the author and the website. Just got a copy of the book for $5.00! and also found "Turnabout" by Thorne Smith, that Judith has been reviewing. I am one happy reader ...

Where can one access the original story?
All these insights have really deepened my love of this movie, and I can hardly wait to hear the report from Miss G!

Thanks

wheat harvest

cm, reading your post was like traveling with you. People often sneer or smirk when I say Kansas is a beautiful state, because we don't have mountains, oceans or beaches. I tell them to take a trip through the Flint Hills, and NOT imagine wagon trains going slowly along, wondering if Indians would b...

GOOBER???? I think not! You and Moira and Sue2 and Miss G and Sugarpuss make me glad I chose Dorothy for my Avatar...every time I check in on this board and read all your intelligent, informative, well written posts, I say to my little dog Murphy, "We aren't in Kansas anymore!" I probably have 20 ye...

Larry, I had a problem about a month or two ago logging in. I emailed the TCM staff, and they resolved the problem within 2 days. If you can't get back on the boards, you MUST start your reminiscences thread over here. We need stories of Nell, and you, and your great checkered past  hanging out...

No, Ben, you are not the only one who likes Lucy in "Mame." I think she's just fine and I don't understand why so many think she was "miscast." I think Lucy conveys a lot more of the spirit of a warm and earthy eccentric than the Broadway one -- you know who I mean. I have never felt anything appro...

Anne, when my Mom died, 4 days before her 90th birthday, some one I did not know very well sent me a handwritten note that said, " It's hard to shut the door, even if we've been waving goodbye for a long time." You may not know all of us very well, but we all feel like family, and families close ran...

Scrooge

Charlie T, looking at your avatar reminded me of one of my favorites... When Scrooge (Alistair Sim's version) awakens Christmas morning, he has a fairly lengthy scene at the window. He talks to himself at a mirror, and the stage hands are clearly visible in the reflection. Just love that scene, beca...

Hi Anne!
Just checking in, to see how you're doing. Hope you are hanging in there, it's the hardest thing I have ever done (including having a 10.5# baby). BUT IT'S WORTH IT, GIRL!!!!!! As long as you have friends to lean on or b**** at, or whatever, you will make it! So Fire Away!!!!!!
