Re: The Power of Glamour

Agnes ALWAYS looked good, even when she didn't. I think that must be the secret. Start making movies as late as possible, and you simply won't age! Here are some shots of Linda starting at age 17 and ending at 28. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l315/garbomaniac/LindaDarnellHata.jpg http://i99.pho...

Re: The Errol Flynn Centennial

Wow! Very nice tribute, Moira. He is in my top 5! Crazy 'bout Errol. My favorite movies were his costume features: Captain Blood, Robin Hood, The Prince and the Pauper, Don Juan, but I also liked him in comedy, something he didn't get to do much of. Two light movies he did, which I liked a lot, were...

Re: The Power of Glamour

You're right, CCF! Joan did age well. I kept trying to think of someone else, and I should have remembered her! She was unusual in that she looked like a completely different woman with each decade. So, her previous look didn't really have any affect on her "age" in the public's mind becau...

Re: The Domestic CAT: Feline at its finest!

It is terrible when our babies die. I'm not going to go through the deaths of each one, but they were all unfortunate. Bijou is the more loving of the two. She gives me kisses and an occasional bite! I know it is all in love, and I even look forward to those little nips. Basia is a big scardy-cat! S...

Re: The Power of Glamour

You are so right, CCF. I got out the book and looked at the unretouched and retouched photos. At thrity-six, she was showing her age closer to forty. You know I don't want to start a competition here, but Ava didn't age well either, and neither did Rita. It must have been a hard life, and it was tot...

Re: The Domestic CAT: Feline at its finest!

Thanks, Klondike! I'm lovin' all these cat stories. There are so many quirky traits in all these "cat lovers." One of mine is naming all my cats starting with B. The first two we had were Riley (cause he lived the life of Riley!) and Lucky (who was homeless and ended up being diagnosed wit...

Wow, PT, that is one fabulous photo! Good job!

And, yes, I recall it was greasepaint as well. But, as a child, I thought they were real, eyebrows and moustache.

Re: The Domestic CAT: Feline at its finest!

I love Nick and Nora. I take it Nora is the lighter one? She looks like she's wearing Sable! Gorgeous color.

And, CCF, try to figure out how to post you kitties. In response to your question: the felines!

Ollie, now THAT is a funny story! I would just give up if I were you.

Re: To Dream of Dogs

I had a feeling Klondike's post wouldn't be well received, and it wasn't. That is why I tried to circumvent the whole issue by starting the Feline thread as soon as I saw what was about to happen. Funny thing, it didn't work.

The Domestic CAT: Feline at its finest!

I hated cats all my life. My wife insisted on saving the life of this dying feline on the side of the road. I said, "Let it die." But, she got her way, and $400 later, we had a cat. Well, from that moment on, my love and admiration for cats has blossomed into this thread! Cats are Unbeliev...

Re: *CANDIDS*

Who would have thought that Luise Rainer would live to be 99? She came to Hollywood, won two Oscars in a row (beating out Garbo!), became indignant, and left Hollywood forever! She should have been punished! She should have died at 64! Garbo only lived to be 84! Who does she think she is? I mean REA...

Re: ,The Best Character Actors?

I have The Sivler Cord. I taped it off AMC years ago. I hardly watch it though. It is a great film, but pretty depressing. It is as close to a reality film back then as you can get: over-protective, domineering mother, children trying to break away, and STRESS! Laura is excellent. Two other great la...
