Mr. O'Brien,

Welcome to the site! I'm sure you have favorite films of Kay's. I've only seen a handful sadly, most notably those with Ronald Colman, who's a favorite of mine. Which of her films would you personally recommend?

Thanks!

Brenda

Thanks to a friend, I got to see "The Red Kimona" last night starring Priscilla Bonner as Gabrielle Darley, a young girl who was tricked into prostitution, and was based on a true story. Priscilla Bonner gives a very sympathetic and touching performance as the victimized young woman, and y...

:) I just read an interesting tidbit about John written in "Classic Images" a few years ago. His daughter with Leatrice Joy, Leatrice Gilbert Fountain, who wrote a fabulous bio on her father, said that Joan Crawford was always on "the make" for him. But she wasn't his type and he...

Lubitsch is priceless! I agree with Alison about his comedies being his true voice. He had a off the wall sense of humor!

"Daddy Long Legs" was my first Pickford film and remains my favorite. Mary got to age from childhood to adulthood, and she did so quite convincingly. Plus the sight gags with the children and the dog getting tipsy were priceless! Neilan and Pickford were the perfect meld in this one!

I don't consider rap music as being music at all. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but shouldn't music be melodic? So yes, I think rap music in the opening credits to a film would have a tendency to turn me off. It would lead me to believe that I wouldn't be interested in the subject matter of the film.

Yes, Bette could do comedy as I said on the other thread, but she was known for her dramatic roles, so in consequence perhaps, got to do too few. Here's a review from the IMDb about the best comedy that I've ever seen her in, "It's Love I'm After." Their Only Film Comedy Together, 14 May 2...

A King Vidor silents collection would be fantastic, I have The Big Parade , The Patsy , Show People , and The Crowd , bootlegged, but I would love official releases. The Crowd is easily my favorite silent film. The Crowd is one of my all time favorites too, along with The Big Parade . Both are mast...

I heard about the release of Bardley's from a very good source. I'm excited as well! It's supposed to be released next year through Flicker Alley I believe, so there probably won't be anything said for awhile. Maybe by the end of the year, we can start looking for news on that site.

Right, she mostly did drama, but you should see "It's Love I'm After" that she did with Leslie Howard. It's a riot with very witty dialogue and proved that she could do comedy as well. :D

While I was in the airport in SLC recently, I saw a man thank a young man in uniform. I did the same right after and he said, "You're welcome, no problem." That's truly the way most of our soldiers feel, and it brought tears of gratitude to my eyes. We can't thank those who serve to make u...
