Re: *CANDIDS*
Hi, My goodness, a day of pulchritudinus birthdays - each and every one a beauty..... Did Marie and Edna May ever make a film together? That would be a treasure... Useless trivia: Hedy owned one of the first barbeques in Acapulco; and in 1951, she cooked hamburgers for about 15 people and moi!!! Ne...

Re: RITA HAYWORTH - The Love Goddess
I think that Rita, and most other actors for that matter, looks her best in those pics which are not posed (the true candids), and in those shots from the movie sets. There is something about the genuine emotion that a model shot with a forced smile just loses (not saying they are bad, just which I ...

Re: ClassicFlix
If I ever get a computer, this will be one of the reasons. Of course, you have to pay for the service. I don't mind that. But I'd want there to be A LOT of movies available. Is that the case with Netflix? There are LOADS of movies available for instant streaming, and almost everything is available ...

Re: ClassicFlix
Interesting. Netflix really has more classic films than one might realize, but they still are seriously lacking. I can get most releases on DVD from them, but they have few copies and there are often delays. Sometimes a movie just stops being available for no apparent reason. I know classicflix has ...

I know McRea is best known as a Western movie guy, but as one who just doesn't care for the genre, to me he will always be remembered for movies like Adventure in New York, The Most Dangerous Game, Sullivan's Travels, Palm Beach Story, and most especially The More the Merrier. The latter I suspect I...

Speaking of Amazon -- They have just raised the minimum purchase for free shipping from $25 to $35! Read it and weep . ARGH!!! :x :x I hate this, but love Amazon enough to consider if it's worth my while to just get a Prime membership to avoid this fiasco. $25 was a nice number to not feel TOO bad ...

It is. He's apparently quite famous as an interviewer, or was at one time.

Hollywood Royalty by Gregory Speck
I have been reading this and it's terrific. Basic premise, the author has taken many interviews he did with lots of film legends of the 30s-60s, removed his own questions and comments, and turned it into a conversation between the actors. It doesn't actually read like real conversation, but it's a s...

Re: Iconic Hollywood sign draws swarms of tourists, irks locals
With the influx of tourists, the neighborhood is filled with cars often double parking or illegally parking (hey, I won't be gone that long, just want to get a picture!) This would infuriate me as a resident, far more than buses. I wouldn't care at all about people on foot, unless they were going i...

Fire Down Below was the first Rita Hayworth movie I ever saw. Of course I knew of her before that, but it was unforgettable seeing her performance.

Jean Arthur is one of my favorites. Such fun to watch her work in comedy.
