Oh, I'm going to take lots of pictures! I know it will be in my mind forever, but it's good to have pictures just as concrete remin...

You're not only going to meet your brother in England, it's isn't that big a country, I'll catch up with you somewhere
Already planned and decided upon. :D I'll meet you in Derbyshire.

Re: The Good News Thread

Brenda, that photo of the girls is fabulous. It made me "exclaim" when it opened (some non-verbal noise of delight which I can't duplicate in print). Aren't they lovely? Or as Stevie Wonder said about his own daughter, "Isn't she lovely?" Their father, and my own son says, that ...

Re: The Good News Thread

Thank you Klonnie! I know I'm blessed. Not only is he a very fine man, but I lost an older brother when he died in a car wreck at only thirty years of age. That brother was only two years younger than this long lost brother, and he knew about him too! It's almost as though the angels have taken me i...

Re: Gone With or Without fanfare

Perhaps further conversations on the politics & career of Alexander Haig would be better suited to a thread in "General Chat" (no pun intended). Allow me to rephrase: Further conversation on the politics & career of Alexander Haig will take place in "General Chat." Or wi...

And that was a good thing, although he was an imperfect patriot. He had an arrogant personality that grated on me. He knew Nixon would be pardoned. That's all I'll say.

Re: The Good News Thread

I've just booked my flight to go see my half brother over in England who was only a name on a birth certificate to me for many, many years. We've been corresponding for over a year now, and he is much more than a name to me now. He's a living, breathing wonderful person! I'll see him in the middle t...

Re: Gone With or Without fanfare

General Haig certainly sent young men to their death, but it's different now that we're sending young men to certain death in Afghanistan. That's different how?

Re: I'm writing a quiz, suggested question welcome

What a coincidence Alison! I've been entering quizzes on Facebook. Of course they're all about movies since I love them so much. I'm sure if you do some Google searches, you can come up with some ideas in those catagories.

I found Broken Lullaby very moving, I'm glad you liked it Brenda.
I had read some very good reviews of it,though it's not a film many people know, and it was good to see a different type of Lubitsch film since all I've seen are comedies. :)

Re: JAMES FITZPATRICK'S TRAVELOGUES

Very interesting Fernando! You can find almost anything on the Internet. It brings the whole world to your doorstep. :D

The parts about the little boy champion rider and the Indians gave the travelogue a nice "human touch."

Thanks for sharing with us!

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

I just saw a very moving film Broken Lullaby , directed by Ernst Lubitsch . It's the type of film that you would never associate with him, and just proves what a very fine and versatile director he was. It's a story set in France and Germany just after the end of WWI, and it paints the horror and th...

Re: The Good News Thread

I saw Ringo at a venue here in Dallas several years ago. I was close enough to get a good look at him. He was probably in his sixties at the time and he looked Great! Paul does as well.
