It seems all RKO releases open with a transmission tower sitting upon the revolving globe. However, some say simply "A Radio Picture" while others say "An RKO Radio Picture." Can someone explain the disparity? Thanks as always...

Another one of my inanities!
Good morning all, Would anyone know if there's version of "The Story of Movies" that's available to those of us who don't happen to be middle school teachers? Personally, I'd love to be able to learn a little something about, lighting, sound and the like and how they're used to emphasize c...

Hi again Larry, Welcome to the club my friend. I've always thought that self deprecation is the highest form of humor. After all, if you can't laugh at yourself, what right have you to laugh at others? The answer? You don't, plain and simple. My parents, luckily, taught me that lesson early on. I wa...

Hey there again, I didn't realize when I posed my question that it would generate this much discussion, and all of it lucid and with a certain validity as well. One thing is an absolute certainty however. There clearly are no idiots to be found among this group. Even those who, like me, ask more que...

Things have really gone downhill in a hurry!
Good morning all, Ever since this site was created I've felt little if any need to post at or even visit, the TCM message boards. I paid an infrequent visit there just a few moments ago and I was appalled by how little most of the people doing the posting had to offer. It's as though 99% of the wort...

jdb, I think that you're correct on several points. Yes, their son was legitimate having been born within wedlock, and yes, Ms. Colbert did bring a certain strength of character to the role while being vulnerable at the same time, much as she did in Since You Went Away . It's interesting to me at le...

The Inbox...
As far as I've been able to tell, when a party has multiple messages in their Inbox, there's no way to simply go from the first to the second and so on except to click on the Inbox heading at the upper portion of the page after each message has been read. Is there any way to simply go from one to an...

I've got you all beat! The worst was James Buchanan. The man was President and couldn't find a wife for crying out loud! What a loser he must have been. Further, nothing of note occurred during his presidency. Running a close 2nd would have to be Richard Millhouse Nixon. While he was possibly the be...

Hello all, Even as an adult, one of the few Sci Fi films that had me on the edge of my seat and holding on with white knuckles was Alien . Maybe because the director gave us only the most fleeting of glimpses of what the monster actually looked like and left so much to the imagination until the very...

jdb1, I was an Eisenhour baby, but yes, you're avatar, which I'm certain is a recent picture of yourself does you justice. You're an incredibly beautiful "young woman." How long will it itake you to get to the Gulf Coast? I'm waitin', ma'am... Fondly, Hollis P.s. to JohnM I thought the pic...

Good morning everyone, I'm surprised no one has mentioned one of my favorites, Branded or my other fave, The Rebe l , with Nick Adams as Johnny Yuma. Boy how I loved the theme song. Does anyone remember the words? Thanks and as always, I remain, Hollis My apologies, jdb1 did in fact mention Branded ...
