Re: Durbin, Garland, Day-A Comaparison

This was a very nice observation, Stuart. Much of all of their would be lives is just conjecture and no one will ever know. there were tight reins on all the women but I did notice that Deanna Durbin never appeared as a guest singer/actress in other peoples films. Deanna only appeared in her own fil...

Re: The Wonderful Deanna Durbin

it is hard for me to forget Deanna. She has been my love for a very long time. I own all of her movies and play them periodically. Although she was not in the public eye for over 50 years I will still miss her. Rest in peace Deanna Durbin. there have been so few talent of your quality to hit the mov...

Re: *CANDIDS*

I cannot let the moment go by without expressing my condolences and sadness for the passing of Deanna Durbin. She was one of my favorites from yesteryear. She chose to be out of the limelight and enjoyed her private life. She, unlike many of her contemporaries, did live to the age of 91. in a recent...

Re: RITA HAYWORTH - The Love Goddess

I watched "You Were Never Lovlier" again last night, for about the tenth time. Rita was smashing in it. I read somewhere that /rita was supposed to be Fred's Ginger Rogers but was deemed too tall for Fred. Di you see that too?

Re: 2012 - 2013 Pet Peeves

My pet peeves mostly involve TV. Since I am now selegated to daily longime watching the BOOB tube I am disturbed by the commercials. they have jumped in frequency and number to now allow over 10 spots per program break plus on-screen banners during the programs. It is very disconcerting to be blaste...

Do You Like "Spicy"

My wife and I are both down on spicy chile or peppery foods. It seems, however, that the world is against us. It is hard to find even a fast food or other chain rerstaurant who does not spice up their meals. Even my kids all like spicy foods. We seem to be in the minority. Where did we go wrong?

Re: My Passion Is The Great Movie Opera Singers of 1930-1940

I agree that Grace Moore had limited acting talent but what she brought to the screen was true opera. She took it from the opera stage and put it on film. It was not a fantasy. I too loved "The King Steps Out". It was a feel good movie.

Re: The Wonderful Deanna Durbin

Deanna Durbin's first onscreen kiss which only lasted two seconds was with Robert Stack in FIRST LOVE. You'll notice that as she grew older, the kisses grew longer. By the time Deanna made movie number ten called IT STARTED WITH EVE, which was her first one after her marriage, the kissing time had s...
