okay, Arkadin, I did kind of like this very unusual film. Gave me alot to think about, but have to ask your opinion on the ending. Read many theories over at imdb, including the one on censorship, but it still seemed a cop-out, or some kind of artistic affectation.
Anyone else who saw it?

Re: Podcasts on TCM
I noticed they don't have the staffers comments for Jan. Do you know if this has been discontinued, or just on hiatus?

Re: Podcasts on TCM
Thanks for mentioning these podcasts, moira. I only noticed the monthly one the past 2 months, and found it very entertaining & informative. You get to meet some of the staffers and learn a little about them and their scheduling hi-lights. It's kind of like 'Bob's Picks', just from the employees...

Re: A Womans Secret - The Great O' Malley
"Great O'Malley" was pretty good. Bogart seemed uncomfortable in the sympathatic father role and liked seeing O'Brian ruthless (at least in the beginning) for a change. Sybil Jason was a pretty talented child star, but like with Temple, a little of her can go a long way. Thanks for mention...

Re: TCM Classic Film Union
Well, it IS easier to post pix there. I put one in my profile, one movie poster, a Warren William & a David Carradine. Okay...so now what? Although according to a certain poster there, I guess some of us senile old geezers should feel honored that the twitter-kids over there are deigning to drag...

Hey! Welcome back SSO. Missed you guys.
Directors theme okay, but why eliminate Underground, Silents and Imports for a whole month?
Bummer!

Re: Gone With or Without fanfare
Always one of my favorite character actors in his own right. Loved his portrayal in "Bound for Glory". So sorry to think that he felt such an ending was his only option. So sad. RIP, Mr. Carradine and condolences to his family.

Re: TCM Classic Film Union
All I know is that ever sine their CFU has opened, I haven't been able to post successfully more than once in a weeks time. I've complained a number of times thru e-mails and phone messages (can't PM Web/ad since my 'loggin' won't work) but haven't gotten any response. Do any of you folks know what'...

"THE ESCAPE" lost Griffith silent?
Okay smarties, here's one for you. I found a referance to a "controversial" silent film by D.W.Griffith (pre "Birth of a Nation") called THE ESCAPE from 1914, supposedly concerning eugenics, which sounded intriguing, but was considered 'lost'. What I found here doesn't say much: ...

The Mikado?
This is my 1st post. Been kind of intimidated by all the knowlegeable posters, but what the heck! Anyone catch Gilbert & Sullivans' THE MIKADO last nite? Always been a fan of theirs, but didn't know any of their plays had been filmed (except maybe PIRATES...). Was sorry to hear the filming of ot...
