Re: WHAT FOREIGN FILMS HAVE YOU WATCHED LATELY?
Wanted to repsond about A Royal Affair--I really liked it, too! I also watched it on Netflix streaming--I saw that Swedish actress Alicia Vikander was in it, and since I enjoyed her performance greatly as Kitty in Anna Karenina, I watched it with interest. Very well done historical drama concerning ...

Sadly, I missed this one. The pictures are gorgeous. Hopefully, it will be shown again sometime.

Re: The May 2014 TCM Schedule
Catching up on threads today, so forgive the lateness of these responses... Masha, what did you think of Grey Gardens? I am kicking myself for forgetting to record it. I saw it once, about 5 years ago, and would like to revisit it, now that I've seen the Drew Barrymore biopic of Little Edie. Ann--I ...

Re: KIM NOVAK
Wendy, after seeing the 1964 version, I'm tempted to read the book...
What do you think of the various Philips? I thought that Laurence Harvey was the only one of the three that looked the right age, but he didn't have the sensitivity that Henreid and Howard both had.

Re: KIM NOVAK
I recorded the 1964 version of Of Human Bondage starring Kim Novak as Mildred and Laurence Harvey as Philip Carey back in October. I finally watched it a few days ago. I've been thinking about it ever since. What I have to say may be shocking, but... Kim Novak's performance as Mildred is superior to...

Re: Odd thought of new movies.
Honestly, the studio era constantly remade earlier films. Stella Dallas was first filmed in 1925, then again in 1937. Ben-Hur, silent version, Charlton Heston version. The Maltese Falcon was made 3 times. Those are only 3 examples out of many.

Re: Most Beautiful Woman
Thank you, Erik, for your kind words.
Dementia is a horrible, terrible disease. It's so difficult to watch the person that you love disappear, yet they are still here in body. I am so sorry that you went through it with your mother, and now with your father. Keep your chin up.

Chris, I thought that both Paul and Ringo gave great performances. I was so struck by the joyfulness they both seemed to possess the entire evening, whether watching or performing themselves.

You are most welcome, Erik. My mother suffers from dementia, and I always feel such compassion for Rita Hayworth and her family.

Fossy--where did you see Lady in the Dark? I've always wanted to see it. I don't think it's ever been shown on TCM.

Hey Chris--I know you thought Annie Lennox's vocal was too strong for your taste on Fool on the Hill, but what did you think of the rest of the concert? I really enjoyed the whole thing, except for Katy Perry's rendition of Yesterday. I do like Katy Perry, but the song didn't seem to be a good fit f...

Re: Most Beautiful Woman
Regarding Rita Hayworth--I thought that people attributed her behavior to alcoholism but it was actually the beginnings of Alzheimer's disease, not a drinking problem at all.
