Had to reply to this one. I love this film. I'm so happy that it's also available on TCM on Demand as well, because I can watch it any time I want. I have to agree with you that Dean Martin really steals the whole movie here. Although the first time I saw this, I was shocked when he called Shirley a...

The first flick I saw Powell in was I Love You, Again ... I was new to classics, and when I started in on that movie he was odd looking. When I got to the part where she dumps the eggs on his head, he was cute. And by the time I got to his cooing, I was sold ;) That is my all time favorite Powell/L...

Well, except maybe The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex . But that's really more because I can't help but think about what was going on behind the scenes on that film - she made Errol Flynn miserable - and that distracts me somewhat. But other than that...I can't think of a single instance wher...

I like The Plainsman. Don't expect it to be historically accurate or anything...but I think it's a good film.... I tend to enjoy his romantic comedies quite a bit...especially the ones where he plays this adorable innocent sort of character like in Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, Ball of Fire, and Meet Joh...

Re: re code of ethics
And they say no contests without written okay from TCM. How will that affect the Challenge? That's what I was wondering about as well. If someone like cs is feeling really vindictive, then I'm sure she could protest the challenges (since it is a "contest"), and it could be nixed for good....

Re: Favorite TV shows
Are you a fan of "The Kids in the Hall?" I should have put that on my list. "I'm crushing your head! I'm crushing your head! You're a flathead!" I forgot to put that on mine too! We get the CBC on our cable system, so I used to watch KITH when it was on every week. The Canadian ...

top 5 actors!
Hollywood kids who ended up worshiping their famous parents are a pretty rare commodity. It's more shocking to hear that someone actually likes their parents, instead of writing some kind of horrible tell all book. I loved that Gary Cooper bumper where his daughter talks about him. She's so filled ...

Top 5 actresses!
Oh, I love making lists! It's one of my favorite hobbies. 1. - Tied - Bette Davis - I just adore her. She was a tough, ballsy woman who also happened to be a fantastic actress. There's a lot of fire in her acting, and even in her substandard movies, she's wonderful. I don't think I've ever seen her ...

pktrekgirl, tell me--are you or are you not a fan of Gary Cooper? I really don't think I'm reading your posts clearly enough! Since you're a fan of him and both Jean Arthur, can tell me if The Plainsman is any good? I loved them together in Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (much better than Stewart/Art...

Pictures!
I like the idea of having some kind of subforum where people can post photos or galleries of their favorite actors/actresses/memorabilia, etc. I particularly enjoyed looking at the photos everyone was uploading to the Yahoo group. Perhaps you can do something like A-L and M-Z subcategories for the a...

Kyle, those pictures of Barbara are fantastic--especially the last one! But then she was gorgeous throughout her entire life. I actually debated with my avatar. Solo Barbara as Sugarpuss from 'Ball of Fire'? Miriam Deering from 'Charlotte'? But when I saw the picture of Joseph Cotten AND Barbara tog...
