Re: I Just Watched...
Darn, too bad, Hibi. Maybe TCM will run a Shelley Winters Day and include it!

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
James Garner said MR. BUDDWING was the worst movie he ever made. "What were they thinking?"
And according to Mank, Gregory Peck remarked that he couldn't even remember making MIRAGE.
LOL

And both filmed in black and white to make the stories more "serious".

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
For years I kept getting MIRAGE and MR. BUDDWING mixed up and confused like their two male protagonists.
These movies of course, are highly pretentious social commentaries on modern-age alienation, ennui, and the human condition.

Re: Noir Alley
There is no rhyme or reason why certain people on film give me the willies -- for all I know if I met them in person I might have a more favorable response. I refer to not only Dennis O'Keefe but Arthur O'Connell and the dreaded JUNE ALLYSON. Wait! "Arthur O'Connell"???!!! The guy who is ...

We here in South Florida are only bothered by alligators, snakes, lightning, hurricanes, bad food and certain political entities.

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
I may be musing recklessly and pondering where I ought not to but there's a moment in Rebel Without a Cause which always gives me pause. It's in the scene near the end where Plato pretends to be a real estate agent showing Jim and Judy around the abandoned mansion and the subject of children comes ...

I have not yet recovered from Shelley Winters in BLOODY MAMA. To her sons: "Who is going to sleep with me tonight?" Asks Pat Hingle for sex. "I told my boys just to rob banks and not get into any trouble" And this isn't even the half of it..... How did I miss seeing this film???...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
It was so completely forgettable, I forgot all about it!!! LOL Benchley's Oscar-winning short How To Sleep will make you drop right off.... He had a short set piece in the court room in Remember the Night (1939). He played a lawyer I think and he was allowed to drone on and on with a tortured monol...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
WEEKEND AT THE WALDORF, meh! Did WWII audiences really need or want an MGM reworking of their classic 1932 GRAND HOTEL? I have a hard time swallowing the original cast counterparts: Ginger and Pidgeon (his ever-present pinky ring on full display) morph into Garbo and John Barrymore; Lana plus Van a...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
I've never seen it because I thought it would be terrible. Not even knowing cast even, but now that I know I have ceased considering it at all. Thanks. Believe me you're not missing anything, including Robert Benchley's narration. It was so completely forgettable, I forgot all about it!!! LOL Bench...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
Did you guys ever notice how Walter Pidgeon smokes a cigarette? In every movie showcasing this pleasantly genteel and sophisticated actor he inhales and exhales in a frankly well, disgusting way, with a weird twist of his tongue. I swear that tongue has a life of its own. I can't wait to check this...
