It is the funniest thing, but I was amost going to start a new thread asking why this forum was called the plasticage! Well, I guess I don't have to think about that one anymore. I like the new name. It's classy, and makes a whole lot more sense.

Fantastic pic, MG! And, NO, Sandy, you are not alone. I really like Norma in The Women. I just agree that her part was one of the least interesting. However, she was the pivotal point on which they all revolved; therefore, I guess being the "good" character she had to be a little dull. Alm...

Well, BHF, you could be right, but I always thought that it felt the code and bent a little in that direction. Still racy, but understated. And, that is a very insightful judgment you passed on the code, MG. I had never thought of it that way, but if we had gone the way of European films, nudity, se...

Olivia was one of the best to play opposite Cagney. She held her own, and kept him in his place. You could understand why he loved her all those years in Strawberry Blonde. I liked Ann with him, too, but one of my favorites was Joan Leslie. She seemed to soften him a little. I thought they were grea...

Wow! What a great piece of info, and that explains a lot of their schtick!

Red-Headed Woman vs. Baby Face

Well, personally I love Jean Harlow, but Stanwyck's performance is just as, or more, powerful than Jean's. Jean was so coquettish, "Can you see through this?" Two girls climbing the ladder of "success."

It Happened One Night

"The overt lustiness barred by the 1934 Production Code was transmuted into clever banter and the romance conveyed an ideal Depression-era fantasy." "The Great Depression, as is usually the case in times of crisis, initiated a religious revival and a revival of conservative beliefs wh...

It is a toss up for me. I would take either one at anytime. Frankenstein, as has been said, has always been a draw for me. I have the Frankenstein trilogy on VHS and watch them every Halloween followed by Young Frakenstein, by Mel Brooks! As for Dracula, there is only one, Bela. Anything he does as ...

Oh, yeah! I forgot about Boyer! Algiers with Hedy, the close ups, the passion, the struggle! Losing your life for love! Now, that's romance! Or, is is craziness?

Ha! Me, too! And, they are "divine." I always wanted speakers throughout my house, but couldn't ever afford it or figure out how to do it. This solves the problem!

On Cable TV, I have the music channels, and since I have three TVs throughout the house, I can have the same music playing everywhere! I bounce back and forth among the Easy Listening, Big Band and Swing, Singers and Old Standards, Classic R&B, Smooth Jazz, Light Classical, and Classical Masterp...

Ronald Coleman was without a doubt romance personified. He didn't even need a leading lady to ooze romance. His romance was with life. He romanced the intellect, the soul, the arts, the imagination, and the ethereal! He was magic to watch on screen, and when he had a woman in his arms, he was an edu...

Senior Will? Wow! I had forgotten about that! Anyway, the Stooges definitely have their place. As has been said, a pie in the face, and you're out of there! They were pretty much for the regular guy who didn't want to have to think too much when being entertained, and sometimes I have to admit, I wa...
