Re: Ben Johnson
As soon as you wrote that Bill Elliott made furniture, I thought of George Montgomery! He also painted and sculpted. A very talented man. http://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/seating/windsor-chairs/high-backed-windsor-chairs-actor-george-montgomery/id-f_382970/ Two pics from Chisum today. http://i742.p...

Re: Ben Johnson
Interesting! Also a little known fact. When Boyd Magers of Western Clippings magazine reviewed my book (Fall Girl: My Life as a Western Stunt Double) he said he had never heard that Bill Elliott made furniture. I assured him that he was every bit as good as George Montgomery in his wood work and fin...

Re: Ben Johnson
I love all the Ben Johnson news. I knew him briefly. Super nice guy. But am confused. I just read on another thread that Ben said Wild Bill Elliott was not much of a rider! I leased Bill's ranch for a time and he was there almost all the time with his furniture making and he also kept several stalls...

Back to Raquel Welsh - WHERE DOES THE TIME GO . . . ? Years ago my jockey husband was beating his chest impressing a group of young riders by telling them that he rode for Betty Grable. One said: "who's Betty Grable?" I told this to Patrick Curtis who was the producer of the Golden Boot Aw...

Re: Most Beautiful Woman
At the risk of repeating myself over and over: In all my working years in the golden era I have never seen anyone with the startling beauty of Linda Darnel. This beauty was not captured on paper or on film . . . but in person I would find myself just amazed at her beauty. Never ever have I seen anyt...

I did not realize Janet was a dancer until I read the list of Donald O'Conner's best dancers: Peggy Ryan, Vera Ellen, Janet Leigh.

Re: Shirley Temple RIP
What makes me just want to boil is the fact that I have not heard one word about her death on the TV News.
Not a single word. Good Grief. She was a major icon for goodness sake.

Sterling, thanks for your input regarding this matter and welcome aboard. More on Barbara Lawrence. On IMDB they say that , "After dating for only a couple of weeks, she eloped at age 18 in January of 1947 with a young contract actor named John Fontaine, aka Jeffrey Stone." This would mak...

rerun, Thank you kindly! You dated Welton! Wow!!!! I consider Welton Beckett the patron saint of mid-century modern Los Angeles. I love his architecture. From Capitol Records in Hollywood to Bullocks in Pasadena to the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, Beckett helped define the architecture of the pos...

One more I liked. In Letter to Three Wives -
Linda Darnell is dressed to go out with the rich guy. Thelma Ritter says, "something to her about needing some beads . . "
Linda replies: what I got don't need beads!
It was just perfect.

Re: Historic Hollywood Sites
I came across a website called Southern California Architectural History with tons of info about the unique architecture of that part of the world. Perhaps this is of interest to others who are enjoying Lynn's posting here: http://socalarchhistory.blogspot.com/ Interesting about the architectural h...
