Dewey- I am a die-hard Dick Powell fan -- as a crooner and past. (except Susan Slept Here. I am still scratching my head on that one.)

I was enthralled the first time I saw MURDER MY SWEET -- I also enjoy Anne Shirley in 'most everything.

Dewey-meter, huh?

Oh, Dewey, Thanks for the heads up on this film. Dick Powell is one of the actors that I am trying to see everything possible. (still no luck on Mrs. Mike, though).

I will be away that night, but will somehow try to remember to record it.

Lynn, Yes, when he's told that there's a 'sentiment' engraved in it? It took me until I reached my, um, forties, before I could appreciate a Western. Hopefully, I have many more years in front of me  It took me about the same amount of time before I saw enough of John Wayne to appreciate him!...

Judith, I do understand what you mean. . . When I was younger I think I gravitated to musicals first over any genre. That's not true anymore. There are some that I just have trouble watching now -- West Side Story. The music is glorious, but the story is just too tragic for me to watch whenever it c...

Miss G and Pktrekgirl-- thanks for your help in trying to find a good image of this movie. I found the small one on Thursday and hoped a better one could be found. About Coop and the camera -- I think I'd heard the same thing about Garbo? That in life, it didn't look like anything, but on film the p...

For me, LIBERTY VALANCE is one of those movies that is just filled with surprising story twists. I love it. I love the whole idea of 'Print the legend' -- sometimes the legend is more 'useful'? YELLOW RIBBON -- years ago, TCM did the month long Western Marathon, and the inter-movie interiviews (I kn...

MrsL and Dewey1960 Although I don't post much on TCM, I do lurk frequently, and I have noticed a definate drop in posting over the past week. I also think there is sort of a "brain drain" on the boards, so it is not just your recent experience that you're noticing a change on the boards. I...

Hi - I have to post here, too, and hopefully here I can keep up! I LOVE Bengal Lancers. I think it's just about the perfect buddy picture. In fact, if I could find a picture of it, I'd like it for my avatar. I looked around yesterday and didn't find a good one. With all three heros. It's interesting...

Pktrekgirl -- I think this is one of the few Ronald Coleman movies that makes me, um, squirm. Because Coleman is so wasted on that wife! Don't get me started on the old 'empty-headed beauty attracts man with everything going for him' . . .

Methinks I may be taking it too seriously

Pktrekgirl -- I like Dresden, too. (I've even read the first two of the series- and I like the show better.) And I have not seen ANY of the new Dr. Who's, but I've had many a late Saturday night watching classic Who on PBS (Maryland PBS!)

Anne, I enjoyed Nora's Born In series, too -- I read them several years ago. (I think I read them out of order, but don't tell anyone.) I'd heard there was an option on the In Death series by Mel Gibson's company, but it's fallen through. I always thought I could see Sarah Jessica Parker as Mavis? W...

I also watched what was happning with the fascination of an oncoming train wreck. Has anyone else noticed that all the posts with the name that Larry found are also gone? Jon, I was also wondering about the ISP business -- wouldn't an ISP change if you're using a laptop in a Starbucks? Or while trav...

Anne, unfortunately I have to run out this morning, but you bringing up this movie -- made me think that it's an interesting movie about how men define themselves? It's been awhile since I've sat down and watched it all the way through, but the whole story line about Destry and his father's reputati...
