At the Schoolhouse Door By Lynette Combs I recollect a dog I had when I was just a little tad; A big mutt dog with curly hair, yaller eyes and a certain air Of wet spring grass, and mud and dew... a good old smell, like a rain-soaked shoe. I don't know where I got him from; he just was there that da...

I'm only thinking of dead people - there are too many living ones that annoy me to list! ...Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, and Marilyn Monroe. And I don't like most of their movies, either. There aren't as many men that annoy me, except maybe Leslie Howard. Give me Ginger, Joan B., and Zasu Pitts any d...

Moira, How did the pies go? Interestingly enough, I like all pumpkin dishes but the pie. Bars, cheesecake, muffins, puddings, soup, casserole and cookies. But pie? No thanks. Actually, I don't care for pie much at all, and believe me, I was raised on the best. We had Thanksgiving at my 93 year old g...

Happy Thanksgiving to all my film friends! We are to be above 55 today and tomorrow which we haven't seen for weeks but is more our normal for this time of year. At least we don't need actual snow boots. I hope all of you have a sunny, safe, filling and fun Thanksgiving. I'll be on grandma's farm an...

Nancy -
I can't believe it was that much difference between us this week! We barely had a little sun and about 42 degrees on Tuesday. Today, snow flurries again and expecting a low of 15 tonight.
Wah.

We also saw snow flurries Monday morning - or those of us who rebuked denial and looked out the window did. My sister says it never snowed.

I wonder how Knitty is in Kansas? B

Anne Bancroft's beautiful stone brought tears to my eyes...there's nothing like a tragic angel.

And Myrna in a tux? I believe you, but I almost thought it looked more like Kay.

Thanks for the great fun.

One more story - I got this a while back on e-mail and hope I can tell it right. A lady went to her door one day to see an older dog standing there. She opened the door, the dog strolled in, looked around, found a nice spot and fell asleep. After about an hour, it woke it and went to the door so the...

That's the only thing I would ever consider a pre-nup for, and the only thing I have that I consider worth fighting for...pet custody!

Moira - Oh yes...Bitty's been scheduled twice since summer. I think the indoor cats are eavesdropping on my phone conversations and sending her morse code signals out the window because she seems to know and disappear! The last time, the vet just told me to show up with her any time she could be nab...

Okay, everyone. Thanks for making me cry at work. And no back-up mascara on hand. I'll share my most recent dog story, but it involves the c-word a alot so I hope Klonny doesn't kick me off here. My dog Daisy, a 6 year old Golden-Shepherd was trained by a cat. When Daisy showed up at the farm after ...

We had a frosty week here in central Illinois accompanied by a temperamental furnace and hot water heater at my house. I couldn't get warmed up anywhere but work. It is a beautiful 72 f today and I'm prepared to scare the patrons...more than usual! Let's hope Indian Summer lasts - the flowers on my ...

Virtue , 1932 from Miss Lombard's selections was a special treat. I especially enjoyed Mayo Methot's role as Lil Blair who has one of the best lines from this pre-code gem, "They don't bury their dead...just let 'em walk around." Mr. Osborne noted her appearance in this movie in his intro...

Klondike - GW Slept Here was just on, sorry you missed it. It is hilarious and tragic at the same time, since it seems to be the story of my life...need more gravel, about $200...need to spray; japanese beetles be here soon... We live on a questionably historical site - the sign says Lincoln " ...
