Anybody else tear up over advertising?
I can't say it's never happened, but can't think of one offhand. I'm so curious, which commercials make you tear up?

I'd have to say African Queen, given the two stars, is a major disappointment. I would say the same thing about Rooster Cogburn, but I don't believe it's held in that high esteem.

I always enjoy sitting through the trailers in the theater to see what's "coming up", as I don't always pay a lot of attention to the commercials on TV. But like you say, sometimes they can go on too long and reveal too much. I'm curious, Cinemalover, what movie drew you back to the theate...

I know on the surface it seems like reviewing movies would be a fun job, and I'm sure sometimes it is. But if you stop and think about it, just imagine all the crappy movies they not only have to sit through, but pay attention to. I would be dying to "tune out" a bad movie I was subjected ...

I'd also like to chime in and say I always look forward to Cinemalover's reviews. I like the variety and that there's newer movies and tv shows in the mix. Have you ever considered being a movie reviewer by profession, Cinemalover?

HBO Signature has shown Audrey Hepburn's Sabrina a couple of times that I know of, in addition to Laura and some others I can't think of right now, but like you say it's always at 5 or 6 in the morning or evenearlier. Still it's better than nothing.

Mae Whitman

Thanks Anne,

I don't remember her in Independence Day or One Fine Day, but it's been ages since I've seen either. I'm glad she's keeping busy.

Hi Anne, Just wanted to check in and let you know I totally agree with you about Mae Whitman in Hope Floats. That scene alone makes the movie worthwhile, she really makes you feel her pain. That scene always breaks my heart no matter how many times I've seen it. I didn't know she was still around, w...

Singing Bee or Don't Forget The Lyrics!

I usually don't watch these type of shows, but I kind of enjoy these two, for what they are. I think it's kind of a trip finding out what some of the lyrics really are, instead of what I've thought they were for years! If I had to choose, it would probably be Singing Bee, the other show seems to thi...

Anybody out there like Kevin Costner in For Love Of The Game? I cry every time I see it  The Natural and Field Of Dreams are other favorites. Everytime a Texas Ranger hits a home run at home, they play the music from The Natural where Robert Redford hit his big homer. Never get tired of hearin...

Anne,

I don't know if this really has to do with your topic, but I've always liked the phrase "forever and a day" and heard it the other day in HBO's production of As You Like It. This may be a dumb question, but does anyone know if the play is where this phrase originated?

Thanks for the review. I'm sure there would be a lot of "in jokes" that would be bewildering to someone who's never seen the show. It sounds like you enjoyed it enough at face value. Kudos to you for giving it a try. I'm still planning on seeing it one of these weekends( I know I keep sayi...
