I just wandered over, and according to the main page, there are 454 guests online, and ZERO members. So I guess nobody is being allowed to log in.

Be still my heart! Sugarpuss, just the thought of all those old knitting things sitting in the corner make me weep! If you can find a good yarn shop, I'm sure you can take a lesson or two. I teach on Monday nights, and it's so much fun to introduce my passion to new knitters. Kind of like getting so...

Flying Monkeys

SP, do they affect you that way too? I cannot watch those scenes with the monkeys, they still give me the absolute HEEBIE-JEEBIES!!!!! Even the last scene, when they bow down to Dorothy, freed from the magic spell, they totally creep me out.

Sure glad to know I'm not alone in this!

Presenting Mary Astor

I've been playing catch-up all weekend with movies I had recorded previously. Dodsworth has become one of my all-time favorites, and to ice the cake, I just watched The Great Lie and Across the Pacific . Where Mary Astor missed in Maltese Falcon , she more than regained in Across the Pacific . Both ...

Larry, I've told you this before, but just as a reminder - I'll be your proof reader, sales agent, typist, whatever. Just start it, I'm like Duke the Dog in the Bush's Baked Beans commercials.....I'll never tell

Moira, I've been playing catch-up with the films I DVR'D this past week. One that I watched was "Deep in My Heart" , mainly for the Ann Miller and Jane Powell sequences. Russ Tamblyn did a really funny turn as a young man with a clueless date. He was only on screen for maybe 3-4 minutes, b...

Believe me, it's a fine madness...I find myself scouring the chorus of any MGM musical, instead of paying attention to the number. I've spotted her in one number of Easter Parade , can't remember the song right off, but it's when Fred does a number coming down a flight of stairs, and she's on his ri...

not yet...

Hi, Fernando. Thanks for the great info. You guys never cease to amaze me with the depth of information you uncover. Unfortunately, our mystery lady is not in the picture you provided. Is there another database that goes a little deeper than IMDB? Their information doesn't usually help much. Thanks ...

"She's sporting a purple dress and a red headband. What a trendsetter! "

Yes, that's her. Sure wish someone could come up with a name and story for her.

Thanks

The girl in the purple dress....

http://forums.tcm.com/jive/tcm/thread.jspa?threadID=90923 will take you to the original question I asked about her. There is a picture of her, directly behind Tom Drake, in the Trolley Song number. She's wearing a blue hat, with a red ribbon. She's in "Easter Parade", when Fred comes down...

Hi Charlie.
Don't let the Order of the Phoenix put you off. It is slow trucking, but it sets up a lot of things for the last two books. "Half Blood Prince" and "Deathly Hallows" are really well written, and worth your time. Enjoy!

I remember reading in a book written by a makeup artist (can't remember his name or the title..sorry) that David O. spent days and dollars moving sand around, because it was casting unflattering shadows on Jennifer Jones legs. There was a whole chapter devoted to her, to Marilyn Monroe, to LucyBird ...
