The "TCM Happy Holidays" promo is taken from Gold Diggers of 1933 in a sequence beginning about 39 minutes into the film. The sequence is part of one version of "Pettin' in the Park." Of course the TCM letters and logos were added by TCM. In order to have "TCM" viewed i...

Newest registered user - DShepFilm

Is anyone else as intrigued as I am by the latest registered user? Could it be the real David Shepard is lurking amongst us, or is this an interloper? Or perhaps he is to be a future Guest and has just registered early? Inquiring minds want to know. :)

Calm down John! - you will have a chance to vote against it when the time comes.

My concern is that some people may not have seen some of these films, especially the foreign ones, and will automatically vote against a film they've never seen in favor of one they are familiar with.

Yeah, the guy falling is from "Saboteur", I also think the references of the key and bottle (top secret) are from "Notorious". Not only is the hero dressed like Cary Grant, the blonde is wearing a red print dress just like Eva Marie Saint's in NBNW. The part where the violin play...

Excellent! - but a 6 minute commercial?! I also caught bits of Dial M for Murder and Saboteur. Last week's guest programer, Thelma Schoonmaker, appears here with Marty.

Maybe we can ask site member feaito/Fernando to translate?

I only discovered this film earlier this year - rented it from Netflix. I had shied away from it previously, as it seemed too political, with the IRA plot. But was swayed over to this by the impact of the situation with James Mason's character, and the general look (cinematography) of this. I almost...

Well, I will be hunkered down on my sofa this evening watching this line-up, even though I've seen these titles several times over. Except for Age of Consent - this will be a first time for me - very curious to see such a young Helen Mirren. I just finished watching all of the intro/outro clips Thel...

Lynn - a few of us touched upon this in the "The Movies of YOUR Life" thread that MikeBSG started. I had a very similar experience to yours, posted in the other thread, only up here in the SF Bay area. Moraldo hasn't chimed in yet, but I think he frequented the revival houses in SF at abou...

There are so many silents and FF that never got mention though. I was going to comment on this earlier, when Pandora's Box was mentioned - another title missing is Metropolis, which generally pops up on these types of lists. Since we are here in the US, and my guess is that most of peoples classic ...

Dear Jondaris, Maria Falconetti's from 1928? Greatest Joan of Arc onscreen ever. Period. Can't believe she never did another movie after that. (I 'm not sure where I read it.) I am not a religious person in that way that only the offspring of clergy manage. But that movie was so moving on so many l...

Hmm...this may be a generational thing. I am a baby boomer, and similar to melwalton's experience, most of the films on my list were first seen by me in pre-vcr days in the 1970's during the heyday of the retro-house experience. There were lot's of these theaters in the SF bay area, and the ones in ...

Hi Bob - Although I live in NoCal, I have yet to make it to a Cinecon. I was tempted a couple years ago, when you ran The Letter with Jeanne Eagels. Subsequently, I had heard that it was to be included on the DVD release with the Bette Davis version, so I was looking forward to obtaining this. But t...

Hi Bob - I’m interested to find out what you may be able to tell us about actor Henry Wilcoxon , his casting as Marc Anthony in Cleopatra, and his professional and social relationship with DeMille. This actor made quite an impression on me (be still my heart) the first time I saw Cleopatra, and the ...

AHA! Superman - the Movie

Boy, as Moraldo said earlier, John Williams sure steals from the best. One hears themes similar to Korngold and Prokofiev on this soundtract recording.
