Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

Thanks, Red! Funny, I've never heard of any of those male junior superheroes...but I do remember the gals, Shrinking Violet and the other one. In looking them up, I think the one I was most impressed with was not Night Girl but instead Phantom Girl. I really wanted Phantom Girl's super power of tran...

Re: The September 2014 Schedule for TCM

I know... I worry that some of those shows we loved will just disappear... , the one or two season shows that were good but couldn't find an audience already have, pretty much.

Re: The September 2014 Schedule for TCM

I'd love to know where they are playing Quincy right now. I miss it, and think about the show every time I watch Bones. :D

OMG! This is now my second favorite of your posters after the Joseph Cotten one. What a great idea. Did you get it while watching Deneuve last night? Love that photo of MacKaill that anchors it all. Perfect! Thanks for posting it.

David Landau played a likable character? This I have to see!
Bronxie, I actually LOVED Landau here! No small feat for this usually dour actor.

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

I don't know Red. I am a complete comic book newbie. I only know the biggies, Batman, Superman, Archie, and because I read MAD magazine as a kid, I know about Plastic Man. But that's it. I remember one I got that had Shrinking Violet in it, and a night girl too, whose name escapes me. I couldn't tel...

I've heard that story, but with Olivier saying, "My dear boy. Why don't you just ACT?"

Re: Joseph Cotten

Ah to each his own I guess, Joe. I think the story is terrific. The depiction of small town life works for me, even though it's a small town in CALIFORNIA, which makes it different from regular small towns. The characters are just odd enough to appeal to me. As for those slip ups Uncle Charlie made,...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

You've made me want to go see Guardians of the Galaxy a LOT! I already was interested because I like actor Chris Pratt. Now you tell me Lee Pace is in it, and that it ROCKS....I have to see it!

Re: College Profs on Film: Good, Bad or Just Ewwww?

Lucky, A Little Romance remains one of my favorite films - I saw it first as a child the same age as the two stars, and I revisited it recently and still loved it. Olivier reminds me of Albert Bassermann in this film.

Re: The September 2014 Schedule for TCM

I know! Thanks to Red, I am hearing the song in EVERY bad girl precode now! Thanks Bronxie, There is also something to be said for the pickle man in Crossing Delancey     ...but that's for another conversation. I really need to see that movie again soon. God I love Union De...

Re: Bad Movies You Love

One thing I liked about A Rage to Live - Suzanne's character was so well drawn that her supposedly "depraved" cravings seemed quite understandable. There was something almost precode about the way we saw the woman's viewpoint in this film - it made me feel a woman's sexuality was valid, ev...

Re: Bad Movies You Love

Oh man! Where do I begin? I LOVED A Rage to Live . I thought it was the creme de la creme of Bad Movies We Love. Suzanne Pleshette was incredibly good, and I thought the material was better done here than in other soapers from that time... it was really pretty shocking, as these go, and I really fel...
