Rancho Notorious (1952)

Fritz Lang’s 1952 western Rancho Notorious has some claims to being a film noir/western hybrid. It certainly has plenty of classic film noir elements. It has flashbacks, it has a femme fatale. It has corrupt law enforcement officials conspiring with crooked politicians. And it has a hero who ...

The Invisible Man is bizarre. Sort of bizarre in an interesting way. Sort of. Almost.

I haven't seen this movie, but I'd like to, for just that reason--Gable was strong enough and manly enough that he wouldn't have seemed like a little boy next to her. I'd also like to see "As You Desire Me." Unfortunately neither is on the Garbo DVD set. Are either of these in the TCM lib...

jondaris wrote:What about an Action forum instead, which would encompass war films and other adventure movies? I'm trying to keep the number of forums becoming unwieldy, but your suggestion is a good one.
It's probably a good idea, because those of us who dislike war movies can simply avoid that forum.

Yes. And you can see the quotation marks when she's acting!
I have been saying the same for so many years, and have been accused of being shortsighted or something by outraged self-appointed connoisseurs of fine film.
Ah yes, I know that feeling well!

It's directed by James Whale, who directed Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein. It has a great cast, but if you're expecting something as good as his Frankenstein movies you may be disappointed. It's an interesting oddity though.

Keaton. Our Hospitality is the only silent comedy that has ever had me laughing out loud. On the while I really dislike silent comedy, but Keaton was actually funny.

While I loved The Twilight Zone , the episodes wtritten by Rod Serling did have a tendency at times to be a little too sentimental for my tastes. The Outer Limits was wildly inconsistent, much more so than The Twilight Zone , but at its best it was every bit as good. Serling's 1970s program Night Ga...
