Re: What are you reading?

I know, I wasn't popular  still I just pop my headphones in and pretend it hasn't happened. I'm listening to Anna Karenina at the moment, I have a list of 5 to 6 books that jostle for top position, this is one, it's also the longest, the last time I read it I was pregnant with Libby, I've want...

Re: WHAT SILENTS & PRE-CODES HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

I watched Downstairs again, John Gilbert is simply terrific and this is such a good bridging role from the matinee idol to actor trying to branch out into more substantial roles, he's terrific, I simply hate him for the bounder he is but don't want to see him in any big trouble. I wonder if he felt ...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

it's interesting, I came to Young Lions a massive Brando fan, I left it an even bigger Clift fan, I loved his performance, Brando's is good too. It's been too long since I saw this movie, what also struck me is Dean Martin wasn't at all lost sandwiched between those two guys, he was really good too.

Re: George Raft

I'm so glad I left the bank, ok I had my option but my days of referring people to a personal finance expert are over. Ask yourself, what do people in the banks do, do they have half of these products, no. It's the same in so many industries I'm sure. The VOLUME of commericals and some channels, I h...

Re: What are you reading?

It's great, I love to read so much, especially the classics, I had got a couple of Alison Weir books and Philippa Gregory books out of the library but to have this service which has a creditable amount on material is excellent. I've just listened to Tender is the Night and now I'm listening to a Rad...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

I watched Keeper of the Flame recently Wendy, it didn't rank high up in the echelons of Tracy and Hepburn movies for me but it had enough for it to tick along nicely. I wonder if it played better on stage?

Re: George Raft

We're not that bad, yet, we do tend to follow where you lead. I was amazed when I visited America years ago at how many advertisements there were on TV. You need a BBC type broadcaster, to watch a programme without interruptions is bliss. I don't pay for any channels, I'm not sufficiently into sport...

Re: To Dream of Dogs

Personally I find a dog understands far more than a child does and doesn't punish you afterwards, whereas children, especially the female variety sulk for ever. Whenever we leave Lara and go out, whih is usually only to the supermarket, when we come back in she goes nuts but she has an order in whic...

Re: What are you reading?

I've come across a great service for me, I suffer from word blindness with this malady and I found a UK charity that provides unlimited listening books for me. Which is great but it crashed the whole computer and Chris spent the whole weekend rebuilding the computer so I missed our guest star. Still...

Re: George Raft

I'm guilty of that too. Chris doesn't like my old movies and we don't really converge on a lot of TV either but we do seem to like the HBO series. We were lost in the beginning, I didn't even know it was based on the truth at first but in cases like these the truth is usually better than any movie s...

Re: To Dream of Dogs

They are sisters under the skin, Lara gets plenty of time out, it's funny she knows, only Chris has a car and with me it's boring on the lead walking, we have no choice but when Chris is here she pesters him to take her in the car to where she can run.

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

It's busy Theresa with one thing and another, I've found myslef immersed in Ken Burns documentaries and the first series of Boardwalk Empire ( I like) and House (it's OK a bit samey though) so I haven't had much to write. Couple this with the fact that we have one computer which we share and my love...

Re: George Raft

I can't believe how lax my movie viewing has become for a myriad of reasons. I have had chance to hire the first season of Boardwalk Empire from our library. is it because I'm British that the first couple of episodes were a bit of a jumble, it's only when I got the importance of some of the names A...

Re: To Dream of Dogs

Your dogs are adorable Nancy.

Tummy rub, did someone say tummy rub? Says Lara, immediately rolling over and looking like a wanton woman.
