I watched The Joe Louis Story[/b ] and the less said about this movie the better. Oh it wasn't a badly made movie by any stretch but the acting was HOOOORIBLE. I also didn't like the semi-documentary feel to some of the training scenes. It felt like I was watching some kinda old timey boxing instruc...

Miss me? I managed to watch a movie this past weekend. I saw The Angel Levine and it's one of the most depressing and ambiguous films i've ever seen. The direction was also very "art house" which I normally dislike but since this was a pretty stagy movie for the most part it wasn't too bad...

Just a heads up: I will be kinda scarce this month due to the baseball playoffs but I should find time for a few movies at least so you'll see me from time to time. I tried watching THE FRENCH CONNECTION last night but well too many distractions at home wrecked that :( I will say it's pretty moody a...

I'm all critiqued out..... I did watch 4 of the 5 movies I had planned to watch the other day. I will mention one of those films and an actress in another film. Upper World : You know, the more I see of Warren William the better I like him. This was a fairly nuanced film for the 30s. What with Willi...

I'm not American but I do follow the political climate down there and i've been a supporter of Obama from the day he gave the keynote at the '04 DNC with that brilliant speech of his. He isn't so good in the debate format however which is a little disappointing. I don't like Hillary at all and think...

Well what puts Scarface on top for me is that that film while pretty broad is much more nuanced then the Pacino remake and the ending just blew me away. I think it was one of the best parts Paul Muni ever had. I just loved the cavalier attitude he had towards authority figures and the whole way in w...

Good (later) morning my fellow movie fans. Well I got to watch all four movies but with a hitch. (there's always a hitch) The Prime Minister : This movie covers the career and marriage to his devoted wife Mary-Anne. It was a British production which I wasn't too keen on. I, for some reason just can'...

Good morning all! Well I watched 3 of the 4 movies I mentioned yesterday. I've taken to falling asleep early these days and missed I, The Jury . Luckily it's showing again next month. Absolute Quiet: What a strange, yet VERY interesting film. It's obviously a B picture as most of the names in the ca...

SPTO: If you showed a group of young (17 - 35 yrs) the two Psycho movies with the original first, I'm pretty sure most of them would prefer Hitch's version. But I don't think they could tell you why. I didn't really sit and watch the remake, but I did see bits and pieces, as well as the shower scen...

Oye why must The Lady from Shanghai be mentioned? LOL I tried watching that movie once and I couldn't get through the first half hour! Check out Angels Over Broadway . The movie has a good story and I like the interaction between Fairbanks and Hayworth. It doesn't hurt that the movie has one of my f...

I haven't seen it but I wouldn't be surprised if the Electric Car was suppressed by Big Oil. Events in the last 5 years tho has changed things to quite a degree. At least now the car companies and oil companies are seeing the light and going with hybrid cars. I will say this, I think North America s...

Been a while since i've relayed my movie watching with you guys :) Well Saturday I tried watching a Philip Marlowe movie Lady in the Lake unfortunately I got distracted about 3/4ths of the way through. I didn't mind TOO much tho as the movie was interesting but the gimmick used throughout made it a ...

I've seen some of Daves' works but the movie that automatically earns him my utmost respect is Jubal . It was a beautifully filmed piece of cinema and he did a great job of directing two very good actors and keeping the more predictable aspects (Othello in Western setting) fresh and entertaining. I ...
