Re: More Jobs !
For all my friends and the many people I do not know who are struggling with not having a job, I sincerely hope this comes to pass.

Re: TCM - Singing In The Rain
I love Singin in the Rain, but with Jean Hagen on screen, who watches anyone else? She's so totally brilliant in this film. :D When Hagen is not on screen, I'm just in love with the uber talented Donald O'Connor as Cosmo Brown (great screen name if ever there was one). Of course, Gene and Debbie are...

Re: Cinderella(s)
Oh gosh, I grew up with the 1965 version. Pat Carroll and Barbara Ruick as the stepsisters, HILARIOUS. Walter Pidgeon and Ginger Rogers and Celeste Holm. I need to see the Julie Andrews version, I've only seen tiny snippets from Ed Sullivan.

If anyone is recording Magnificent Obsession (starting in 30) please contact me offboard. I'm not getting off work on time and I was already scheduled with Dragonwyck this morning.

Re: Kurosawa tribute-recommendations?
I've tried to watch Derzu Usala but was plagued with interruptions and had to give up, seeing what you've written Miss G, I know I'm going to have to give it another go. I hope you do, CCFan. I wish I'd recorded it. It seems like such a personal film, with a subject that probably is only going to a...

Re: The Adventures of Robin Hood
Terrific screen caps of one of my favorite films of all time. Moira, I saw TAORH on the big screen in 1976-77 at the Vitaphone Theater in Saratoga, CA. Olivia de Haviland was in town (dedication of an outdoor theater to her Mother Lillian at Villa Montalvo). The print screened was a brand new, 35mm,...

Re: C.B DeMille
Madam Satan is one of my all time favorite films. Absolutely must show up on Warner Archive one day, it's a fab film with Adrian making costumes while on some sort of drug. Dynamite is not nearly so much fun. I have great fondness for Cleopatra, not for the historical accuracy, but it is so much be...

Re: *CANDIDS*
Absolutely. He was wonderful in The Male Animal. Let's give a warm salute to Herb Anderson, one of Hollywood's utility bland guys who had a long and prolific career standing in the background. He is probably best remembered by those of a certain age as the father of Dennis the Menace on TV, but he w...

Fernando, ironically Lucille Ball was considered and tested for the role of Scarlett O'Hara, of which Vivien Leigh won, of course. Clark Gable (Rhett Butler): Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn. Lucille Ball (Scarlett O'Hara Butler): Waaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Lucy did have dramatic chops, neve...

Re: Mr. Brent
Oh, I do not mind Mr. Brent at all. He was not that hard on the eyes (although he did get rather burly toward the end, around the time of Spiral Staircase). He was rather wooden as an actor, but, as supportive eye candy for all the great leading ladies, he was fine. Hard to match up to all that tale...
