Thanks for the list, John. I knew there was a reason I don't care for DePalma..."Scarface" was my first, last and only encounter with the man. I found it to be the most obscene movie I've ever had to sit thru (a first date, no less!) I'm not talking about the language, but the horrendous, ...

I agree with you, except for Brian DePalma. His name runs me off, rather than draw me in. Could you tell me some of his movies, I might be completely wrong. I just associate his name with gore and violence (not exactly this old gal's cup of tea)

thanks, John

Actors you watch, no matter what the film is about

"It would be interesting to name that handful of actors or directors whose name on a movie draws viewers as well as those whose stellar or supporting presence makes one pause, even when the film is less than wonderful". Moira said it best, but I will try to get this going. Are there any pa...

Sam Elliott

Geez, Moira, talk about a rush....I always wanted to see what was under that mustache    I can't name a particular part of his that is a favorite. He's more (to me) like the stars of the past, when you didn't go to see a movie, you went to see a BETTE DAVIS tearjerker, or a JUDY GA...

Hi Jack! Yup, c'est moi! And by the way, just to show what a newbie I was before reading your posts, thanks for getting me started on watching the "extras" and directors commentaries on my DVD's. I had tried once, but was annoyed by not hearing the movie dialog....duh!!!!!! Now I first vie...

I was about 12 the first time I saw "Meet Me In St. Louis", on the '10:30 pm and 1:00 pm following day Movie of the Weekend'...and fell in love with Tom Drake, Judy Garlard, and young romance. As an adult, I still am totally charmed by the movie, but now I see it thru Mary Astor's eyes, ho...

I know this thread was meant as a joke, but how about his role as Steve in The Virginian? He was (to me) perfect as the shambling, devil take the hindmost, out for fun and an easy life cowboy.

Just found a link at TCM for a synopsis:

http://www.tcmdb.com/title/title.jsp?stid=75058

Hope this comes thru for you, and Marsha Mae Jones (Klara) was apparently NOT in the movie. (as Bette Davis once said, "'Old Age is NOT for sissies."')

I can't remember much about the movie (it was kind of old when I saw it, and that's 50 some years ago. I do remember the kids had all kinds of troubles, were they orphaned? I'm almost positive the young actress in "Heidi" was the oldest sister in the 5 Peppers movie. We also had documentar...
