Sonny Tufts had a good role in "So Proudly We Hail!" as Paulette Goddard's love interest. He played Kansas, a happy go lucky haphazzard fellow.

Am I to assume that no one on the Silver Screen Oasis site has seen the great noir "Pickup on South Street"?
Or perhaps since it is a 20th Century-Fox picture not many had the chance to see it?
The good news is that the movie is out on DVD and VHS.

I always enjoy watching "Sergeant York" as I did today.
I would hope to see "The Victors" (1963) on TCM one of these days.

I for one am very fond of this motion picture, as it represents the homefront during WWII. The performances are outstanding, especially that of Claudette Colbert. Here is the original review from the New York Times, which is not a rave. N.Y. TIMES REVIEW 'Since You Went Away,' a Film of Wartime Dome...

"Cloak and Dagger" (1946)

Fritz Lang's "Cloak and Dagger" is a romantically cast, post WW II production that dramatizes a fictional OSS mission. A thriller, from the low budget Republic Studio. Gary Cooper is perfect as the physicist turned OSS agent and Lilli Palmer is the beautiful partisan that reluctantly falls...

"The Grapes of Wrath" is not exactly an edge of your seat film, but it is a shockingly realistic portrayal of the suffering that so many people and families experienced during the Great Depression. The performances are flawless, and the experience is not only powerful and moving but also e...

Speaking of a Cagney film that has not been seen in a while, I'll nominate "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye" (1950). Love the title. Back in the crime groove Cagney is swell as usual, and Barbara Payton is surprisingly good as the blonde moll. However it's character actor Luther Adler that comes clo...

I finally relented and watched the outrageous "Borat", and I laughed my butt off. I couldn't believe it.
Although some segments were staged, those that weren't were just hilarious.
