Re: All alone in this vast wilderness

I checked out the SSO Facebook group and I don't care for it at all. You wold have to sign in to each thread individually it seems to me, but I can understand how you could end up spending the better part of a day there. I still prefer this place. I'm not sure how you access Facebook but that's not...

Re: Atypical Movies

Well the thing is, I always think of the silent era as being from 1919 or so until 1928 or so. That's just me being uninformed and not really looking into it all that much. So yes, that is a pretty unusual film, but it still made me look back and realize there were about two decades of films being m...

My knowledge of the silent era is so terrible. Thanks for posting this!

Re: All alone in this vast wilderness

For what it's worth, I don't go to the TCM site (don't even have an account there) and would welcome any discussion here that happens to be mirrored over there. It seems like most of the activity here lately is the Candids thread, a little TV talk, and Erik's Rita thread. I wish I knew how to stir u...

Re: Actor Harrison Ford recovering from plane crash

I saw the headline just after it happened and panicked. Couldn't take losing Spock and Han Solo within a week of each other. :( I'm glad he's going to be ok.

A trio of tragedy there, with all dying far too young.

Very sad to hear about Nimoy. He is one of my childhood idols.

Re: 'Round the World Weather Report

It never quite got to 40 and also never stopped snowing! Instead of melting it just got to be that heavy kind of snow, which I cleared a path to get my car out of the driveway through, but otherwise have left to its own devices. :)

Re: 'Round the World Weather Report

Minus 15 yesterday morning. Today it's snowing again, for the third time this week. We have over a foot of snow on the ground. Later on it's going up to 41 degrees, and going to rain a bit, before dropping to the teens again, meaning we will have a sheen of ice over our entire world later. I'm ready...

Re: The Vast Wasteland

The other point about 15-25 (I assume you meant 25, not 35, since most 35 year olds aren't living with their parents? :))...that age bracket is just NOT watching broadcast TV. They are watching on demand, whether legally or through illegal downloading. The current young generation lives completely i...

Re: The Vast Wasteland

I am watching a few new shows on Netflix and such sites. I can't bear watching on broadcast anymore with all the commercials. Agent Carter, a new show on ABC is clocking in at 39 minutes! 39 minutes for an "hour" drama! That's madness. I read the other day that TBS actually speeds up a lot...

Re: Finally, a comedy that stays funny

I have just finished watching it. I loved it! I'm sort of a sucker for romantic comedies anyway, and as someone who tried to have a blended family (and failed; the wrong girl! :)) I especially enjoyed the parts with the kids bonding with each of the other adults. There were some things that were for...
