Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

Today I watched Torch Singer , a 1933 Claudette Colbert vehicle and one of her last pre-code films. A racy tale involving premarital sex and pregnancy, the titular character is forced through circumstance to give up her baby for adoption. Later she becomes a famous lounge singer, and accidentally ir...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

The 1933 Kong film is truly one of my very favorites of all time. I have watched it so many times, and will watch it so many more. I've introduced my kids to it, and share the love of it with my youngest at least. We also have bonded over Ray Harryhausen movies, watching all of them together. It's o...

Re: CANDIDS II

I must post some of my Gene Tierney collection as well. She was one of the most beautiful (and most troubled) of actresses. http://i.imgur.com/EuteqKgl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/CP6D93Fl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/tfjKdc8l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/1kOc15sl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/hEgp9B3l.jpg http://i.imgur.c...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

The past two weekends I've seen two new films at the theater, and one old favorite at home Big Hero 6 - a new animated superhero movie from Disney/Marvel. Lots of fun. Kids and I enjoyed it immensely. Interstellar - very cerebral, science-heavy film. They explain Einstein's theory of relativity for ...

Re: Detergent pods

I think in many cases, young parents do not realize the incredible responsibility they now have. By the time some figure it out, it can be too late. :( Of course, what you must realize is that in this day and age, we hear MUCH more about what is going on in the world. An incident with detergent ball...

Re: ,The Best Character Actors?

As I mentioned in another thread, I'm rewatching My Man Godfrey, and loving every line out of Eugene Pallette's mouth. He's such a distinctive actor; that voice! I love catching his appearances. Definitely fits this category, in the upper echelon.

Re: Movies & Music Mixed

Nice idea for a thread! This scene works with many songs. This just happens to be the most upbeat I can find this evening. IMO, the original beat poet style in the movie doesn't mesh with her enthusiastic dancing, but these youtube remixes do. I could watch Audrey dance all day long, regardless. [yo...

Re: CANDIDS II

Birthday gal Grace Kelly enjoying a treat on a fork. But what is it? I think it's an orange, mostly peeled (by knife) except for the bottom which has a fork stuck into it to make a handle. Never seen anyone eat an orange that way before. Looks good. :) Yes, it's definitely an orange, and I doubt an...

Looking at the pumpkins in both those pics, and thinking also of pictures I've seen of Halloween back in the 20s and 30s...it was pretty creepy back then, wasn't it?
