I regard both ladies as hard as nails. What was Bette's gripe against Joan? The reason I said that Bette may have been jealous of Joan as a glamour girl was because of something I heard her say in a documentary about how MGM was this glamorous place, (where Joan worked before going to Warner Bros.)...

Re: "But ya are, Blanche..."
I think MissG hit the nail on the head... Joan was more blessed in the "good looks" and glamour department and worked hard to maintain that image. Bette was more of a "plain Jane" and worked hard to get character roles to cement her reputation as a "great actress." Exa...

I agree precoder! Here's my little review of Stolen Moments . I watched Stolen Moments off my new Valentino set. This was the movie Rudy made before he hit stardom with THE FOUR HORSEMEN OF THE APOCALYPSE. Having read the reviews, I wasn't expecting much, and I wasn't disappointed. Rudy is the best ...

Excellent Hedvig! Your rendition captures the spiritual sense of that scene from The Phantom Carriage quite well! A very heartfelt and intelligent interpretation! :D You definately should continue with your art! I was interested in drawing when I was young, but never kept it up. Here's a youtube cl...

My little review of Man's Castle : Recently I had the pleasure or viewing Man's Castle with Loretta Young and Spencer Tracy. First off, I think Man's Castle is one of the best depression era love stories that I've ever seen! Kudos to Borzage for his fine sense of romantic drama in Depression era Ame...

"Fast Workers" (1933)
I just watched my first sound film with John Gilbert with mixed emotions. First of all, it was a complete pleasure but not a complete surprise that there was nothing wrong with his voice. Of course there was nothing wrong with his voice, we all know that, but it was good to have it confirmed any way...
